This hotel is in one of the oldest buildings in Bamberg. If you like to walk, as I do, the 20 minute walk from the train station is only a small inconvenience. A cab ride wouldn't be over 15 euros. The hotel staff told me that the bus that stops at the stop near the hotel goes to the main station, but it actually just goes to a transfer point (indicated by a "Z").
The hotel is only a short walk from the most scenic part of Bamberg, with the many canals and bridges. The one closest to the hotel has a series of numbered gates that are maneuvered through by kayakers when water is being released from the nearby lock.
I was there at a time requiring no heating or air conditioning, so I don't know what it would be like in summer or winter.
