My partner and I had an enjoyable stay at Secrets Maroma Beach, but there are a few things to consider before booking at this property.
Check-in: The process was smooth and easy, though they do send a salesperson your way to try and upsell the preferred club packages. Simply say "no thanks" and you can avoid the sales pitch breakfast.
Food: This was a disappointment for us. Despite reading reviews about the mediocre food, I hoped they weren’t accurate, but unfortunately, the food was quite average. It’s not terrible, but for the price you’re paying, it doesn’t meet the standard we’ve experienced at other Secrets properties.
Room: The hotel is 15 years old, and the rooms are not as fresh as they appear in the photos online. Some nights, our room felt a bit warm—the AC doesn’t go below 70°F. When we raised this issue, they sent us a fan as a solution, which felt subpar for a five-star hotel.
Beach: The beach was okay, not amazing but not bad either. It’s large and great for swimming, but when compared to other resorts in the area, it’s pretty average.
Overall: While we had a decent time, I don’t think I’d return to Secrets Maroma Beach. There are better options nearby for the same or better value.
