There is a kitchen in the room so you can cook if you want. However, we visited Kyoto for a short moment so we did not use it. All customers should aware that there is no human at the front. Check in was done online and they did not send us the pass code to main entrance so we could not get into the hostel until a custermer came out. And your English must be good enough to follow instruction by telephone.

Hotel without staff present. We had our luggage sent from the previous hotel, but no one informed us that we could not find our luggage in our room (as in the other hotels), but we had to pick them up in offices that are more than 500 meters away.

This hotel chain has a good idea on how do save money by not having staff in place, however it does not work. First, I arrived after 4pm and hotel room was not ready, as there is no one you cannot go inside, luckily someone from cleaning was passing and let me get in. At the reception there is a phone that rings to the hotel administration, I called and after longtime they gave me a room. To my surprise room was not cleaned from previous guests. More waiting and when Ifinally got a room, the cleanliness was badly done. One can tell it's been a while a good clean is not done. But worst was still to come, as I was sleeping someone entered my room as somehow hotel double booked the room. Definitely a very bad experience, better to pay a bit more and have a decent service.

Whilst very compact and minimalist, it provided all the facilities that most hotels don't. My son and I travelled with a couple of 38 litre cases (essentially carry-on) for the two weeks in Japan consequently we had no problem with the size of the room. The hotel ticked all our boxes and was a short but delightful walk to Kyoto Station. I would have no hesitation in staying at a Japaning Hotel again.

There’s no room service at all.
There no reception. Everything is done virtual including check in and check out. And you will not receive the pin to check in after 4 pm which makes it quite difficult for you to plan.
If you want to leave your luggage you got to go to a different office to deposit your bags
The neighbourhood has nothing and was quite a walk to the train station.

It is a nice and clean apartment. It is small. And it is on the third floor without elevator.

Excellent accommodation with modern appliances
This was our second stay at this hotel. We like the better than average appliances including a washing machine and larger than normal refrigerator and a small kitchen. There is quite a bit of room and is plenty for us.
The only negative is the distance from JR Kyoto station. It is not too far but some may find the 15-20 minute walk a problem. The street that the hotel is on is a bit uneven and can make luggage a little difficult to maneuver.
You need to have access to email because there are no staff at the hotel. Your check-in information (including access codes to the building and your room) is emailed to you on the day of check-in. Check-in is performed on an iPad in the entry area of the hotel and your passport is photographed as part of the procedure.

Nice and reasonably priced
We stayed here for 4 nights - unfortunately we were all sick from food poisoning from a trip to Osaka, and stayed recovering in the hotel for the entire length of our stay. Fortunately, it had all the necessary things we needed to get by, with convenience stores reasonably close by. For what it had to offer, the price was very reasonable, in fact, the most affordable of all of our hotel stays in Japan. Since we missed all of our sightseeing in Kyoto due to sickness, Kyoto still remains on our to-do list. If we do come back, we'd most likely stay here again.
