The hotel was great, patong beach is not.
The hotel is located 10 minutes from the beach (which is a horrible beach) and it has a market next to it which is open from 11 AM till midnight. I gave this hotel only 4 stars just because from our room was at the 5th floor, towards a road and we could hear people screaming at night and cars driving by, and even though they have soundproof balcony doors, we could still hear everything and it made it hard to sleep at night, it's kind of noisy.
Even though the beach was only 10 minutes away from the hotel, it is horrible, full of arrogant Russian people, the water is dirty and smelly, and there is a sewerage nearby the beach which drains in the ocean. Rather than going to Patong we would walk 40 min (from the hotel) or 10 minutes with tuk tuk (we preferred the walking) to Tri Trang beach which is great, less people, the water is emerald and clear and has corrals and lots of fishes which makes it perfect for snorkeling.
P.S. the water at Tri Trang is shallow after 2-3 PM due to low tide.
