This is an older hotel that is showing it’s age, it’s fairly clean given it’s age, the room smelled damp and was a bit small. The breakfast room is a bit small so on Saturday morning when the hotel was full it was a bit chaotic, but we did get a good breakfast once we made our way through it. I do think the staff is doing a good job with what they have. Its in a good old town location, walking to the trolley station was easy to get downtown and very easy walking to all the shops and restaurants at old town. The hotel is right next to the freeway but we were never bothered by sound. On Labor Day weekend this hotel was half to 70% less than staying downtown so it was not unexpected that it wouldn’t be the latest and greatest. The next time we go to SD I would look into other hotels but would certainly stay here again if cost and availability worked that way.
