Historic and charming
This is a very old and historic building so it’s not like staying at Premier Inn! There were stairs but they were well lit.
Our room was charming with a comfortable four-poster bed and vintage dressing table. The floor boards creaked and sloped a bit downhill but…
… the en suite was spotless, the shower hot and easy to use. Even the extractor-fan worked well, which is unusual anywhere.
There was a selection of tea /coffee and biscuits and a fresh bottle of water each every day; our room carefully serviced every morning.
Full English breakfast was good and the evening menu offered a lot of choice of delicious, well-presented meals, reasonably priced.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
There is a car park in the back courtyard of the building.
We had a lovely weekend with trips to three National Trust properties that were within about 30 miles distance. I would recommend Cross Keys Hotel s somewhere a little bit out of the ordinary but charming.
