Loud wedding near bedroom
Disco with 180 guests. Ground floor bedroom window surrounded by young people celebrating late into evening.
Restaurant was like Faulty Towers - I thought we were being filmed for a TV show it was so badly organised. Waitress asked us all several times what we had ordered. Brought wrong meal. Did not offer any sauces eg mustard, or steak knives for tough dry gammon steaks nor sirloin.
Barman did not speak much English and could not change a 20 pound note when we bought drinks. Young receptionist could not give me details of the way to somewhere less than 2 miles from hotel nor give me any change when I paid bill on checking out. There was a strange substance (ash) swirling round bottom of wardrobe so I could not hang up any clothes. Although we had paid in advance for a room for 2 guests there was only one set of towels and toiletries. I asked for more and was sent back to room to check wardrobe for spare set. Nothing there so had to return to reception.Definitely not 4 star. How do Mercure rate their hotels?
