My wife & I had a staycation on Labor Day weekend at the W. Since we live in Nashville, we have tried out most of the nice hotels in the city for various events through the years.
The hotel itself is clean, modern, and upscale. However, the rooms are marginally better than a Hampton Inn or Courtyard, and definitely not a 4 or 5-star hotel. The bed was one of the worst I have ever experienced at a hotel. My back has been sore for almost 2 days afterward because the mattress was so bad. It wasn't just super hard, but it was also springy and cheap feeling like one you would expect out of a roadside motel.
The hotel pool is good and there is plenty of sun around the deck. The only complaint for the pool is the waitstaff and bartenders. The service was poor at best.
It was a busy weekend, so we understood we would need to wait. It was the lack of recognition that was frustrating. If they would even acknowledge your existence to tell you they are running behind, that would be fine, but instead they completely ignore you and leave you wondering if they are ever going to ask you a question. When you finally did get someone to take your order, they seemed to forget about it until you reminded them 20 minutes later.
Overall, I will never stay here again. For half the price you could stay at any 3-start hotel and have a better experience.
If you want a trendy scene, ignored even sitting at the bar, and back problems, then this is your hotel.
