Front desk service was terrific, rooms are comfortable and the hotel is high value at its price. However, the woman who was operating the breakfast room was nasty and ruined what was otherwise a satisfactory stay. Breakfast hours are advertised 7:30-9:30am. When I came with my kids to eat shortly after 9, the waffle batter was removed from the machine, there was no sausage or potatoes in the server and just barely enough scrambled eggs left for one person. There was little bread, no fruit, no orange juice. We asked when the food would be replenished and we were told very rudely that it wouldnt be. The woman ranted about how some earlier people had made a mess, so she decided to punish everyone who came later by depriving them of breakfast entirely. Other guests were similarly annoyed that the included breakfast was not being provided within the advertised times. One person told me they had gotten there at 8:45 and had been waiting patiently (without asking) for replenishment that would never come. Other hotel staff were asked to assist but seemed powerless to get this woman to do her job and treat guests respectfully. It was kind of shocking actually. Seemed like the other staff were afraid of her. Aside from this, the hotel was in a state of partial renovation which made it look rough in spots, and there was a foul and overpowering smell of artificial air freshener in the hallways that was gross. But the breakfast debacle was really the biggest disappointment of the stay.
