I used to stay there many times within the last 15 years. This time I needed an advice from the reception where to find a Moneygram agency to pick up money in Guatemala. They told me, that I might get the money from one of the Guatemalan banks. So I really received my payment, so I gave thanks to the reception and in the meantime 24 hours later, I figured out, that approximately 1000 US$ had been stolen from me, and there were only 3 occasions,where the money could have been stolen - twice while I took showers in the room and one while i was sleeping. There were connecting doors in the room and the thief could only have had access through these connecting doors. I have been traveling for more than 50 years and this has never happened to me. It is alarming that such a thing happens in a hotel It is absolute impossible, that this had happened elsewhere, because money was missing from 2 pockets in my pants - one on the left side, one on the right side, and a thief will not first steel from one pocket, take just a part of the money, then take the money bag from the other pocket,take just the 100s bills, leave the rest in and will then put the money bag back into the pocket. It was only possible in the hotel. I sent an email to the hotel - no reaction yet. This is the event that will make me NEVER ever stay in Casa Veranda anymore
