i'm a frequent traveler and i regularly stay in SPG Hotels around the world, i'm always happy with all their brands, top hotels.
But i can't recommend this hotel in Houston! Service was terrible, food/breakfast was poor and we had to wait 90 minutes to get served, room got not cleaned, coffee machine was not refilled, fridge was empty, roof top bar closed/under construction, room service unbelievable expensive and the room was like a prison, dark, only 1 very tiny small window and with a "view" to a wall...... Quality of room is high, but see the picture, then you see what i mean.
the guys at the reception, behind the bar and at the entrance were very friendly, no complaints.
i wouldn't say anything if i would pay up to USD 150.-/night, but we paid US$ 425.-/night, and this is far to expensive to get something like that.
location is good, only few minutes walking to get to the convention center.
Hotel opened 1 or 2 month ago, but seems the manager still has lots of work to brief his staff, SPG and management should immediately check that
