The bad experience at this hotel began at the entrance to the property, where hotel security kept us waiting for approximately 10 minutes because, according to his excuse, he couldn't find our reservation and also asked for our ID so he could take pictures with his own phone. After arriving at the hotel reception at 4:00 pm, they informed us that our room was not ready for occupancy and the check-in time was at 3:00 pm, even though we had requested an early check-in two days prior. When they finally gave us the key to our room, we proceeded to go, but when we got to the door, they were still cleaning it. The room was not at all what I expected; being a simple room, I hoped it wouldn't feel like I was staying in a very low-category motel like this one did. They offered me a room change, which I accepted, since it was the same category but located in a different building. I asked what the next category would be, and I was told I would have to pay an extra US$100.00 per night, which I declined since I was only staying for one night and it wouldn't be worth it, fearing it would be a little more. I selected this hotel because the one I was actually going to choose was cheaper, but I understood that it's not every day that one celebrates a year of marriage, so I opted to book this slightly more expensive hotel, hoping the whole experience would be better for my wife and me on our anniversary.
