Our stay at the hotel was generally pleasant; the staff was attentive and extremely polite, and our room was clean and comfortable. However, there were serious issues with the breakfast. The boiled eggs were ice cold every morning and, what’s more, they had started to turn green, which doesn’t necessarily mean they were bad, but it’s clear they hadn’t been cooked that morning or even the day before. The staff considered this situation normal. I have stayed in many hotels and have also worked in the industry, so from a professional standpoint, this is far below the expected quality. Perhaps this is customary in Italy, as I haven’t been there yet, but it’s not acceptable elsewhere. The bacon was also served cold every morning, and it’s not recommended for those who arrive early, as the chafing dish only heats up around 8 a.m. Overall, the quality of the breakfast was well below the expected standard.
