Disappointing experience.
We arrived and checked in with a very friendly receptionist. We were surprised that there was no information booklet or map of resort supplied at check-in or in our room.
The fridge had an ice maker. The tray had defrosted and frozen again in a huge lump and there were a few cubes on top. it must have been there a long time as the cubes smelt and tasted awful so we had to go get ice at the reception building.
The door handles of the fridge were dirty and a few other things made it obvious that the room had not been cleaned properly. We cleaned some things ourselves.
After a wonderful meal at the resort,we realized that there was no power to lights, outlets or the tv in the bedroom and the window mechanism was broken and could not be opened. We reported both of these things the next morning. The electricity was fixed but we were told that the window could not be fixed. We were offered another room, which we were pleased about, but the bedroom in the new room was inferior to the one we already had. There was a cupboard for hanging things but no dresser, shelves or even a luggage rack for our clothes and other items. We decided to keep our less inferior room that we could not open the window in.
Compensation was suggested but the manager said that contacting Hotels.com for this was like trying to get through to NASA but he would try. We are still waiting to hear from him. We hope to hear from Touchstone or Hotels.com about our experience and compensation.
