We had a terrible experience at the hotel. After a long day of travel we arrived on Saturday evening only to be informed that our room could not be offered as there was a hot water issue that had been in effect since the previous day. The hotel receptionist informed us that they had called/emailed all affected parties on the Friday to inform us of the issue. However no such call/email had been received by me. When asked to provide evidence of the communication, this could not be done and the receptionist could not find the message.
When we asked what our options were, we were informed that it was either move to a lower-class sister hotel or get a refund - the second option obviously not possible at 17:30 on a busy Saturday evening at Leicester Square in London. We had no choice but to take the alternative (Assembly Hotel). That’s when a terrible experience got even worse. We were just told the name of the new hotel and weren’t even assisted to find our way. Luckily it was only a 5 minute walk away. As we checked into the new hotel we discovered that we had been checked in to the worst possible room category - a tiny, claustrophobic room without a window.
What was supposed to be the end of a great week of travel in the UK turned into a complete disappointment.
