I booked a room at Olive Serviced Apartments because I thought the name of the place meant I was booking an apartment, but it turns out I booked a hotel room. Really, this is not a problem; rather, the name is a little confusing. The price is very reasonable, and the area is decent. The hotel has a kitchen that makes good, fresh food, both in the South Indian style, and also in more of a western style. I finally learned what a bread omelette is; itâs French toast. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet, and seems to be mainly used by itinerant IT workers and traveling professionals. The hotel staff are very helpful, although I did get a bit of a hard time upon arrival over the confusion regarding the expiry date of my entry visa; my guess is they donât get a lot of foreign tourists here who come with visas, and surprise, surprise, English is not their first language, so miscommunication happens. Still, the service has been great; room cleaning, meals (which are served in a central dining room with one big table; get to meet your fellow travelers), laundry: everything was done very professionally and with great humour, actually. Overall, even though it is a little out of the way, and is tucked into a cul de sac, itâs a very clean, quiet place in a pretty good location that is easily accessible by taxi or trike. I would certainly stay here again if I return.
