It took two hours to check in, despite me Expedia messaging the hotel beforehand. I was stuck outside unable to get into the building, then I was given a room — but NOT the code for the room door. THEN I had to figure out the WhatsApp number to get the room code and building QR. (They forgot about the country code?!) I left for the afternoon, came back to a malfunctioning a/c … but the WhatsApp communication stopped at 5pm. I didn’t dare take a shower since the room was already steamy… miserable experience: nobody spoke English or seemed to be bothered enough to use google translate. The woman who opened the room spoke, fast, nonstop, in Portugese, and just left me (she never reappeared with any help).
