Didn’t particularly enjoy my stay here. I was expecting an actual hotel and not a series of self check-in rooms via lock box (to be fair to them I obviously hadn’t read the check in instructions so that’s on me) but the whole place gave me a strange vibe. There was no one else in the building, no staff or guests at all. The building is a big old ex-manor type place, and it gave me strong “the Shining” vibes. Still convinced the place is haunted. Eerily quiet at night, bed was ok but I didn’t sleep well.
The road up to the property is rough, I was in a 4x4 and it was still dodgy. Entrance isn’t particularly clear (it does say entrance on the door but it looks like a back door that staff would use). Group of chickens roaming the grounds which was amusing but I almost ran them over a few times while trying to park.
Room was disappointing. Outdated and dirty, I found what looked like the cap of a mouthwash bottle with dried blue liquid in it on the floor in my room, and the bath had some nasty looking grime in it. Bed was ok if a bit overly soft.
Signal was very poor. There is Wi-Fi but it wasn’t working when I arrived. Phoned the number provided and was essentially told to find the router and fix it myself (the guy was polite, no one was on site so there wasn’t much he could do). This worked until the router was inexplicably removed at 9pm until 8am, which is concerning considering the bad signal.
Nice view from the rooms at the front of the building though.
