Loved it! Beautiful resort
We absolutely loved it here. We were wary due to the ACA news report but honestly we couldn't fault it. Plenty of activities to do and staff were so friendly and attentive the whole way through. I'd say 2 nights is a perfect amount of time to stay!

Great resort but needs more staff
The staff are friendly and the pools are amazing. The issues we had on the island stem from the fact that they are clearly understaffed. Not being able to check in until 3pm, delays with luggage being delivered to our room, the room not being serviced on some days, no cutlery at breakfast, the lack of staff when there was an evacuation alarm in the early hours of the morning, all examples of where understaffing affected the service delivered.

We enjoyed our stay. Good facilities, modern and Tidy room with plenty of space.
The island is clearly understaffed. Breakfast in particular took a very long time for buffet service, we waited in line for twenty minutes on multiple occasions.

Not properly maintained. In night paths are very dark

Overall it was pretty disappointing. My partner and I had gone on our first holiday in a long time and it was also our anniversary.
Some of the staff are great but most look miserable and can be overheard constantly complaining.
There is a complete lack of staff, resulting in long waits. There doesn’t seem to be any leadership or upper level management presence at all.
The food was decent but the menus are underwhelming and basic. Fancy a cocktail? Don’t bother you will have to explain how to make even the most basic.
While half the island has been renovated to what seems to be an on going level, the other half is just let to rot.
Spend the extra and go to Hayman or Hamilton.

The staff were probably the only plus about our entire experience, although we left one of our chargers behind and we're still yet to hear back from them.
The island itself it too small to have any diversity for places to eat, so you literally have only 3 choices for food.
We went for a week and a bit for our honeymoon and well within 3 days, after sharing every meal to keep the costs down - we ate lunch at Inkstone and I had a severe case of food poisoning that lasted a good few days. So bad so, I couldn't leave the room the entire time.
From an activities side of things, there's a few things to do and kayak and catamaran hire is free, if you're lucky enough to get decent enough weather. To our own mistake, we didn't choose the right week to go.
Altogether, we just don't think it's worth what you're paying.
You're paying top dollar ($4500 ) for what is mediocre food, short-lived excitement unless you're ready to spend a lot more and not enough space to properly explore.
If Hamilton Island wasn't all booked out, we would have easily gone there instead, but at least we can say the staff made our time here just that little bit more tolerable.

I did not realise that Daydream Island/Resort is owned by an international company (China Capital Investment Group). The reason for traveling to the Whitsundays was to support local and 'Holiday Here This Year'. Had I known that my money was going overseas I would not have booked this resort.
Staff seemed a bit inexperienced and overwhelmed at times (probably from being understaffed/disorganised). Food was also ridiculously expensive given the quality (cheapest pizza was $26 for a small). If the food was cheaper, or the quality was much better we would have been more satisfied. Guests can only eat on the island and are not permitted to bring food from off the island.
Aside from the negatives, pool facilities were lovely, location was beautiful and the rooms were comfortable.
Would I stay here again? No. Would I recommend this resort? No. But we made the most of the beautiful location of the Whitsundays.

The surroundings and the Living Reef. Beautiful setting. Lots of activities.

We were looking forward to the trip from Sydney. The ads were beautiful and photos presented. Firstly Expedia couldn’t explain why we were charged an extra $200 for the second room we booked for exactly the same type of room. Tried to contact Expedia and that was a nightmare just trying get to speak to someone. Even the resort blamed it on Expedia’s pricing glitch, to this day I have not received anything back about this matter. Anyway, the island is beautiful & would be a fantastic resort if it was maintained. But went downhill as the days progressed. Service from the restaurant staff was rude, unaccommodating, inexperienced, very slow and some were probably overworked. It was great to see animals roaming around the resort but not so great when you are stepping into kangaroo droppings everywhere you went including the pool area so walking barefoot onto the droppings and then into the pool was gross not to mention walking back to your room after stepping on them. Pool doesn’t appear to be cleaned as you can see the dirt sitting on the bottom. Bread we had for breakfast had mould. Overall resort needs maintenance, a good thorough clean and resourced with people who can provide a
Service that you would expect from a resort and not McDonalds. The pricing charged for this resort is way too much compared to what you get and receive when you are there. A very disappointing experience to say the least and would never recommend it to anyone. In fact we have been doing the opposite
