6/10 – Gut
14. Nov. 2018
The hotel is located a little bit north of Hsinchu Moat Park, about 15-20 minutes walk from the main station (about 5 minutes by taxi, will cost ~100 NT$). Just a few minutes walk away you'll find lots of restaurants of any kind.
The hotel itself is one of those old-style upper-class hotel with aged (but very well maintained!) furniture. The room was spacious and had everything I needed, even fresh fruit was provided. Unfortunately the cleaning was not that good: Every day I got more and more black hair in the bathroom and corridor (probably also on the carpet but not very visible there). This shouldn't happen even in lower category hotels and actually I've never experienced it that much ever before.
The included breakfast was good with several choices of Chineses as well as western cuisine. However, here another problem with the staff showed up: Every time some of the food was already empty and they never refilled before I asked them to do so. Furthermore, the breakfast room is to small for a hotel of this size and especially on weekends you might have to wait for quite a while to get a table.
The pool area is small but nice. Only problem here is that they don't have changing rooms but expect you to change inside the shower cabins (and one of them which also had the toilet inside had a very dirty floor). I still enjoyed swimming but some updates would be good.
Overall due to the staff problems I can just give an average rating.
