Great hotel
It was a great stay, the hotel was nice, the people working were very pleasant, the restaurant was delicious. My only small complaint is the bed wasn’t very comfortable.

Oh boy!!!
Itvwas good, until i had to walk half mile down hall to my room, to find out my keys didnt work. Now i have to go back up half mile to have it fixed and walk back! Ugh! One morning, i walked went to walk out 9f my room, and almost trip over a mini fridge in front of my door!! I mean, whats that!!

Location was super convenient to SU. Hotel can be updated and a bit cleaner. The smell of weed was so strong everywhere that it was gross and overwhelming….consider splitting smokers to another area of the hotel although it was listed as a non smoking facility.

Ups and downs.
This was my third stay at this hotel. Staff at the desk was helpful, friendly and generally amazing! Loved them. Bed was clean. Wine at the restaurant was great! Price was a good value for the location. Room was depressing and furniture was old and broken down. Food at the restaurant was sub par. Mattress was hard and uncomfortable. Parking was tight. Usually charge an extra $10 to park.

Our bad, horrible, no good stay!
Check in time was 3:00 pm. We came in at 3:15 and told our room wasn’t ready yet due to people leaving late and other circumstances. It would be ready shortly. After an HOUR, you read that right, we were told that our room was ready. During that time, we were told that the room I had reserved had no heat, offered a double bed room, but most of the time was spent just waiting. All of a sudden our room had heat, we went up to our room only to discover that the hot water in the sink didn’t work. The hot water had been shut off because it leaked. It took 45 minutes to fix the sink! By that time, our room had heated up from 64 to 69 degrees. The heater’s fan made a loud noise as it ran. The repairman got it to run quiet but it soon returned and was loud overnight. Hence, there was not much sleep! There good points to our stay. Several people were very kind to us especially the man who fixed our hot water, the waiter at the restaurant, and the lady who checked us out. We were offered free dinner and breakfast. They took a great deal of money off our bill and free parking. Dinner was good but was only warm when it came not hot. Breakfast tasted funky to me from the scrambled eggs to the potatoes. So looked forward to staying here and it turned into a nightmare!!

Mostly good, recommend
Nice place, walking distance to SU. Clean, nice bed, good food, good shuttle service and friendly and available staff. My only issue would be the heating system was very loud. The amenities listed on this website are incorrect, they do not have a gym anymore. Other than that it's a nice little place.

Facility seems nice, our room was uncomfortable
The Collegian is a unique experience. It sits in two buildings, the main building resembling an old hotel or dorm with long narrow hallways, older paint and carpeting. The lobby and on-site restaurant are modern and expansive, with great light coming through large windows. We visited just after the new year and found tasteful decorations in the lobby. We saw NO other guests during our stay. The phone system makes it easy to get a real person on the phone immediately. Upon our late evening evening, we were greeted by the front desk person who was friendly though trying to handle multiple jobs. After check-in, we walked to the room. I'd requested a room near the parking lot but now wish I hadn't. We opened the door to a strong bleach smell, bare tile floors, and bright white fluorescent lighting. It's a big space, but far from welcoming. I wished I hadn't specified anything about the room. It was also cold at around 65 degrees F. We tried to adjust the thermostat but it never seemed to warm up. A few of the USB outlets in the lamps were loose, making charging difficult. We couldn't find a blanket for the pull-out sleeper, but a call & visit to the front desk fixed that. When we came for the blanket I asked for another pillow. She said someone would bring it, but no one ever came. Was no one else working there? We all got settled and slept fine. The king bed was very comfortable. If the rooms in the other building are carpeted & more modern, we'd stay there again.

We stayed in the annex building which is very old. Homeless person standing outside the entrance door both mornings asking for handout. The heat was on full blast and temp was 78 degrees when we got into the room and could not be controlled. Maintenance person came and told us oh that thermostat doesn’t actually control anything… and he suggested opening the windows. Unfortunately those were screwed shut, so he brought out the tools and broke the clamps on the window so we could open. No screen on one of the window and the whole window wasn’t even in the frame so with a stiff breeze the whole window pane could have fallen in. We were on 2nd floor and a little nervous that someone could have climbed up terrace and gotten in, so we stored valuables in safe. Woke up to leaves blown in on the floor. The staff didn’t really have much to offer for the experience other than “thanks for letting us know”. It really sucks that there aren’t any good hotels in Syracuse. Crowne Plaza wasn’t any better but now that’s shut down. Unfathomable that a university that charges $80k a year isn’t investing in buildout of decent hotels in the area - there aren’t any good options anymore for hotels that are walkable to campus. I went to Union College and it’s incredible to see how Schenectady has turned around in the last 30 years. Syracuse needs the same plan.

I used to love this property, but it’s all about college students as dorm. The room had no heater and no extra blankets. The bathroom door was off its hinges and the room door so scuffed… not for parents but for party ;)

Heating system did not work. The room is too cold. The staff brought an electric heater to amend the situation. It has potential fire hazard but at least I got a late warm night for sleep. The night weather was very cold.
