I get there and there is absolutely not one parking space available... so I couldn’t stay, and lost my money for the room! No one answered the phone when I called to inquire about the parking situation either!
This was an older building and times have changed. Some of it was highly nostalgic, some just plain outdated. The life noises of residents of the hotel give the atmosphere a little something different that is not different from other stays. The bed and bedding was cozy and clean, as well as the carpets and surfaces. Not many channels on the TV- only local. It is autumn, and there is no independent thermostat so I was very glad i read other reviews and brought a space heater along. The hotel is in a busy area so parking is a challenge. There is a lot on the grounds but lodgers are required to pay AN ADDITIONAL $10.00 just to park on it. Takes the value away for the stay. Was trying to concentrate on the positive but this broke the camel's back. Won't go again....
Historic building, very clean.
Awful. There we couldn't sleep since at 2 in the morning there were yelling and people fighting for more than an hour. No one did anything. The service attendance really poor. I wanted to check out the person was smoking and didnt even receive my keys.
This place has got to be one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. 😠
There was no heat in my wing of the building so I pretty much was left to freeze in my room. They provided a broken iron as well.
This hotel should not even be open. I booked here on a business trip and not only was the hotel old(the key was actually a key) it was freezing. They gave us a heater that was broken and didn’t stand up.
Good overall. Pillows weren’t very comfortable. Stayed in early October so the window AC units were in the windows and the draft around it made the room really cold.
I have mixed feelings. I like the location, the verve, style, history (I hear it is even haunted by ghosts) and Milwaukee is my hometown, but I had three very bad nights out of five. But they did take off money from my bill. Thank you. What was it? The first night the police were called a man and woman got into a fight and she became suicidal and police thought she would jump out the window; second night, a guy is shouting "Fuck you" or "Fuck me" for about an hour at 3 AM. I don;t know if it was pleasure or displeasure (smile); three; a woman resident starts doing her laundry at 10:30 PM with a metal clanging in the clothes. I called the front desk they helped in all three occasions: Cory, Kathy, all the front desk people were great; they should get raises. but the owners need to decide is this a "welfare" hotel or a hotel not for party goers but a nice quiet pleasant hotel for tourists and business people or people like me --former Milwaukeeans visiting family, friends and the graves of my mom and dad.
If you appreciate vintage buildings and accommodations this hotel is for you. Nothing fancy about it but comfortable and clean. The room has an awkward set up but so much storage and drawers. Location is great for downtown activities and free parking is great. Customer service was excellent especially since I had a problem with my room key (they give you an actual key not a key card or anything) they were very prompt and friendly to get it resolved.
