Sundays Beach Club is a favorite chillout venue on Bali’s Bukit peninsula. The beach club is part of The Ungasan Clifftop Resort and is located in the namesake village of Ungasan. It's where to go if you're seeking a beach retreat with a pristine stretch of sand and swimmable waves. Here you can also enjoy Mediterranean cuisine under thatched roofs with ocean views.

Sundays Beach Club is a great option for a laid-back day on a clean and quiet coast, with fun beach activities to keep you and your family or friends busy. These include sea kayaking, beach volleyball, snorkeling and kite flying, while sun loungers under beach parasols provide perfect timeout spots.

Sundays Beach Club's highlights

The only way to access the beach club is via a funicular. It’s a 2-minute descent between 2 hillsides and you embark a few steps from the resort’s main pool and lobby. As you step into the cabin, the beach club’s thatched roofs look like tiny pyramids below the valley’s greenery from this vantage point. The rule here is ‘first-come, first-served’, which also applies for the parasols and sun loungers. Thus, it is best to come earlier to guarantee one of the coveted spots at the front.

The pool and lobby occupy the central area of Sundays Beach Club, with a mini-lawn off to one side where you’ll find the best combination of shade and open views. At the far end are Sundays' Bale – 2 raised seaside huts that offer elevated views and the ultimate private space for a full-day retreat. The lapping waves hardly reach the base of the platform, and low tides reveal rock pools and a clear lagoon that leaves interesting collections of tropical marine life to explore. The 165m stretch of sand is walled between rock faces on each side and is well supervised.

Dining at Sundays Beach Club

Order a pizza, and soon you’ll see the kitchen crew snap into action rolling fresh dough through the kitchen’s wide service window. The king prawn pizza, with red onion, capsicum, tomato and fresh coriander, is a must-try. For a unique experience, try the rendang pizza, comprising the Padang-style stewed beef with onion and mixed capsicum.

They can also arrange private romantic candlelit dinners on the beach with a 3-course menu and a bottle of champagne. If you stay past dinner, the well-equipped bar and DJs at their turntables help turn up the club vibes at Sunday Beach Club.

Those staying at the cliff-top resort are in for this privileged treat. For outside guests, its only downside is the rather far-off location... Even so, that simply keeps the hefty crowds away.
