False advertising, daylight robbery
I don’t know where to start with this review! I’d booked a “comfort room” for a 5 day business trip to London. This room seemed good - private bathroom, separate seating area, even a “city view”. Seemed good.
I had to step over a pile of black bin bags to get through the front door, which didn’t bode well. The room, at the very top of the building, had a strange musty smell. I sat down on the bed, it was very uncomfortable. Then I noticed that there was no private bathroom. It was down the corridor. I contacted the hotel manager who, to be fair, was very friendly and the communication was fine. But her suggestion was ludicrous: the bathroom was shared between only 2 rooms and she promised she wouldn’t let out the other room for the duration of my stay. Erm, ok, so a) I have to wander down a corridor in the middle of the night for my old-man-wee and b) how could I be sure that 3 days in, someone else would be on duty, and let the 2nd room to someone else. Nah.
I then noticed there’s no separate seating area. I asked about this to be told there’s a “communal seating area for all guests”. Sue assured me that the false information was “unintentional” rather than dishonest.
A minor point - unless you really crane your neck and look round a corner, the “city view” is of a brick wall.
I decided not to stay. Due to so many inaccuracies she agreed to a refund. But get this - minus a £75 cleaning charge. For a room I’d spent maybe 20 minutes in. Daylight robbery. Avoid avoid!
