I recently stayed at the Middle Eight Hotel - Garden London, choosing this location for its convenience and the apparent plushness based on their website. I was willing to pay extra for a better experience, but sadly, my stay fell far short of expectations.
Upon arrival, the reception was welcoming and professional, which was a positive start. However, my experience quickly declined. I paid €414 for a one-night stay, expecting a decent-sized room. Instead, I was allocated a very small room with a tiny bed and a window that overlooked some serviced ducts in a service yard, which was disappointing.
I asked at reception if I could be moved to a larger room. I was shown an upgrade option, but it came with an additional charge of £100 (approximately €120), which I found unreasonable given what I had already paid. The upgrade room wasn't much bigger, but I accepted because the first room was far too small.
Additionally, I was told the mini-bar was complimentary, but it only contained milk, which was not particularly useful. The did bring 3 small bottles of Coje and 1 bottle of beer on request. Since I had an early flight the next day, I requested a late check-out to shower before leaving. This request cost another £80 (roughly €100), adding to my overall disappointment with the value received, however I was thankful to avail of this service.
Overall, this stay was a major letdown. I dont mind paying good money for a good product in retur
