Do not try to send your letters from here...

I stayed ten days for a business trip in this hotel. It was clean, the service was good, the room was large. The breakfast could be a bit more varied but was ok. My main point of criticism is about the service in the lobby. Because I was at the office during the day and the post office was already closed I asked the person at the desk in the lobby if I could get a post stamp for a postcard. She said she never sent one but would think that it just goes by the mail without any cost. I said I doubt that and that I want to send it to germany. She then assumed that it will not cost more than a standard letter in the US. I still was not convinced and said I will check that first... The internet said that I will need a post stamp for 1.15$ so I returned to her and said that I need a stamp with at least 1.15$. She was thinking and selling me two post stamps for together 1.50$. Luckily I still had doubts and checked the stamps the other day. The internet said that a standard US stamp (Forever-stamp) has a value of 0.49$... I managed somehow to reach a post office shortly before it closed and there I got the info: Of course I still need 0.17$. So I paid the remaining 17cent and the man at the office taped a large printed post stamp half across back and front(!) of the post card (next to the two stamps and the address of the receiver was simply not enough room to get it placed completely on the back). It's sad the hotel staff was not able to get me the correct 1.15$ stamp I asked for.

Very outdated and smells like cigarettes. Right behind our room there was an equipment room which produced very loud noise. Queen beds would be a better option instead of the twin beds.

Good staff the rest is Meh

The staff are amazing! However if you don't have a membership with the hotel the experience is a little mediocre. A lot of guests wearing a suit and tie making the average guest feel out of place. I have a ESA which I mentioned at the time of my reservation when I arrived I was told pets are only allowed on the first floor (understandable but also unexpected) but this was for our wedding so you can imagine my disappointment when I am given a new room. Which feels like you are being banished because all the rooms on that side of the hotel seem cheap and severely outdated. Again understandable because they don't want the nice rooms damaged but that is why hotels have a damage fee or you pay for a 'protection' plan through hotels.com Biggest problem is the noise it is next to a busy road and you can hear the sound of running water throughout the night. There is also a sliding door in the room if you are facing the inside of the hotel lobby and the lights are of course always on and even with the light blocking curtains it still illuminates the room from the sides. The food is also meh definitely not really worth the price even if you decide not to get room service if you don't get a meal cupon the prices are not worth the quality you get. For the price and the amount of lost sleep (the whole point of a hotel) it's overall a meh experience and I definitely will be staying somewhere else if we come back to the area for our Honeymoon.

Good location for traveling to high country

Pictures look awesome. Bed was comfortable and everything was clean. Common areas of the hotel are beautiful but rooms could use updating. We didn't eat in hotel so can't rate restaurant. Nearby traffic can be very loud, even at night through closed windows. We liked the location for visiting beech mountain one day and Asheville the next day. Room had a frig and coffee/tea maker.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Very clean, and comfortable. The only issue was it is very noisy but that's to be expected with the location. So many dining and shopping within walking or under 5 min drive! I do miss the sauna, but the pool and the gym are great!

The Crowne Plaza in Hickory is one of our top choices when our family hosts our reunion in Hickory or Conover. Sadly, the hotel is not quite as we remember it. The space is absolutely beautiful and the potential is there, but it seems as though the hotel is declining. None of the amenities that were advertised were available. The gym and pool were closed for the duration of our stay. The restaurant menu advertises a breakfast buffet, which was closed the duration of our stay. The rear door worked only sporadically, which is really inconvenient if your room is on that side. Positives - their rooms are very spacious and comfortable, they offer a variety of channels on the TV, bathroom is nice, fully equipped with lotion, soap, body wash, shampoo & conditioner. Bathrooms are comfortable, & spacious, beds are comfortable, hotel is centrally located, daily housekeeping, which most other hotels seem to have gotten away from, staff was friendly, check in process was quick and easy. The on-site restaurant had a variety of options for breakfast and dinner.
