    Augustiner Keller dates back to the 14th century, making it the oldest brewery in Munich. No list of the best breweries in the city would be complete without mentioning this iconic venue.     However, the original brewery building is on Neuhauser Strasse in the Old Town.     Richelbräu serves a variety of CasaNova beers, which taste similar to Pilsner. Founded by Günter Baumann, it’s actually the first house brewery in the Munich-Neuhausen district. In fact, it’s still run out of a house basement. Although the brewery is not allowed to serve beer from its tiny production room, guests can call ahead to book donation-based tastings.

    Richelbräu is more of a cultural community space than just your average brewery. They organise many interesting activities, from film screenings and brewing courses to brewery cycling tours. The residential building where the brewery operates from is quite easy to spot, thanks to its yellow exterior.

    Tilmans Biere (Büro) is a modest craft brewery by Tilman Ludwig, a German brewmaster who studied the art of beer brewing at Munich's Technical University. After graduation, Tilman went to work at Hass Braui in Switzerland as a brewmaster. In 2014, he decided to start his own venture and open Tilmans Biere (Büro) right here in Munich. 

    You will find several brews at Tilman Bierfe, from brown and pale ale to pilsner and das Helles. Each bottle has its own colourful design! Although you can find Tilmans Biere (Büro) at most Munich beer shops, head over to Tilman’s own Frisches Bier to enjoy his unique beers on tap.
