+ Top location in Vila Nova de Gaia, next to the park with a playground, just a few steps away from the Metro stop and the Luiz I Bridge and a 10 minutes walk from General Torres train station
+ Grocery stores and bakeries nearby
+ The host Izabella was very responsive and accommodating
+ The basic amenities like towels, iron, hairdryer, cutlery, glasses and plates were available
+ Big fridge, stove and washing machine
+ A bottle of port wine and water were provided (after asking)
+ Coffee pads for the coffee machine were provided
- The flat was not really clean. After talking to the host, who was very friendly, the bed sheets have been changed and the kitchen has been cleaned, though, which was good
- The heating in the both smaller rooms is not really powerful, which could be a problem on colder days
- The rooms are small and dark
- The whole building is old, which is why the rooms are poorly insulated, so we could hear our neighbours from upstairs. The ventilation of one of the bathrooms is very loud, as well.
- There were mold and spiderwebs in some rooms and in the bathrooms
- The bathrooms (especially the sinks) are tiny
- There were no salt, pepper, sugar or tee
- The grass in the garden was not cut and the grill was not usable
The overall impression was that the flat is not being well maintained. Thus, if you don´t spend too much time inside, the location is perfect for families with toddlers and to explore the beautiful city of Porto and the surroundings.
