Fell Centre is wonderfully located at the beginning of a natural reserve. The centre consists of several houses and huts, the largest house is for breakfast, mini market and sauna. We arrived in January at temperatures of -35C and it was like a winter wonderland with mountains, rivers and northern lights! The free sauna is great and really saved our lives. The hotel offers many sports activities like cross-country skiing and excursions and will rent all equipment to you, prices are high but quite typical for Finland. Some excursions ("Guided Moonlight walk to the forest", 100 Euro) seem a bit like a tourist trap and you can feel the hotel has pressure to be profitable, as every little thing is charged. But overall we enjoyed the stay and the amazing nature. If cost is not a big issue and you just want to focus on sports and recreation in the beautiful wilderness, Fell Centre is excellently organized and you will have a great experience. The hotel could improve the check-out time: if breakfast starts at 8am and check-out time is 10am, people can't really enjoy their morning. It feels like a strategy to make guests eat less and then quickly leave their room before they might take a second shower. Intl. check-out time is always 12. Also if you provide a kettle in the room but no tea/coffee bags, and only glasses (no cups), it somehow doesn't make much sense.
