I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Occidental Papagayo, an all-inclusive, adult-only resort, and I must say it was a truly beautiful experience. From the moment we arrived, the hotel's stunning architecture and lush surroundings took my breath away. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, setting a positive tone for our stay.
One thing to note is that while the hospitality was excellent, the English proficiency among the staff was somewhat limited. I recommend bringing a translator app to facilitate communication, especially for those who may not speak Spanish. Our room was clean and comfortable, though we encountered an issue with the safe which wasn't functioning properly. It’s good to remember that the hotel is only responsible for items secured inside the safe, so be mindful of that. Regarding entertainment, the television stations were primarily in Spanish, which was not a major issue for us, but something to consider if you enjoy watching TV during your downtime. Dining was a highlight of the trip! The buffet restaurant was impressive, with a daily changing menu that kept our meals interesting and delicious. Just a heads up: there are two specialty restaurants that require reservations, and they tend to fill up quickly, so it’s best to plan ahead if you want to dine there.
For activities, we enjoyed kayaking; however, it’s essential to have one experienced and one inexperienced person in each kayak for safety. The massage with Dana was exceptional.
