Not a luxury property
I’m shocked this is rated a four-star hotel. The exterior is beautiful, but the inside tells a different story. The staff was unorganized and unhelpful. When I arrived early for a work event and needed to check my small carry-on, it became a hassle. I was told to leave it in the lobby, which felt insecure, but I had no choice. Check-in was at 3 PM, but when I returned at 4:30, my room still wasn’t ready. When I finally got my room, it wasn’t the one I booked. The furniture was old and mismatched, with anything “new” from IKEA. The “king” bed was two squeaky twin mattresses pushed together, making for an uncomfortable sleep. There was no thermostat, and the bathroom was disappointing—a tub with a handheld sprayer, making it hard to wash my hair. The tub and shower curtain were dirty, and I had to clean them myself. The massive, weighted keychain was also a hassle to carry around. To top it off, as I was leaving, a staff member chased me down the street, saying I hadn’t paid. Apparently, they forgot to take a credit card at check-in and only realized as I was rushing to catch a 7 am train. Of course, I paid immediately, but it was frustrating that no one had mentioned it earlier. Overall, a huge disappointment—I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Beautiful old hotel
Had a lovely two day break in this wonderful old hotel. We had a room with a view across to the mountains and although it was chilly outside, our room was nice and warm and we had plenty of room. Breakfast was very enjoyable too. A short walk to the train station made this a great place to stay.

Really great hotel and design, clean, had an upgrade to a room in the main building which was a surprise! Balcony overlooking the train station. Bear in mind it’s a bit of a hill walking up to the hotel from Samedan station but it’s a short 5 minute walk. Short train to St Moritz.

Traditional grand alpine hotel with historic features retained, in a convenient location and with lovely views. Excellent service - I had (inadvertently) booked a room not served by a lift. After several attempts, they still have not sent me a final invoice and there are many unexplained charges. They refused to give us a spare key and you can only lock the door from inside, so I felt unsafe until my friend came back with the only key. Also, they took the card out of the wall that gave us electricity, so we were without it an entire night and were unable to see anything or charge our phones. They offered no transportation from the train station up the hill to the hotel, and we had too much luggage to carry on our own. It is $50-$70 US just to go 10 minutes to get to St. Moritz. It was a nightmare.
