Yikes!
When we arrived to the area we couldn't find the reception as the college has a building labelled reception and signs directing you too it, but it is not a part of the accommodation. There were several other people looking for it as well. We tried calling for help with no answer. When we informed the front desk the admitted they knew about the problem but had done nothing to fix it. The guy checking us in was nice, but clearly overwhelmed. The room was fairly clean but small. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable with springs poking you all night. It was definitely not a bed for two people as advertised. And, the pillows were thin and clearly old. The kitchen hard overflowing garbage, no recycling and no dish soap. When we asked the front desk about this they said they didn't know who took out the garbage handed us a large black garbage bag and informed us soap was not provided for the dishes. One last note; there is not enough parking for all of the guests and it's very unclear as to where you can and cannot park outside of the parking lots directly outside your building. I understand it's a cheap accommodation, but this is beyond unacceptable.

Not great
Bed had the springs coming through the mattress, it is the student accommodation and the noise was horrendous, also the staff need to look at the bin areas outside the accommodation as it's borderline for rats, add to that the mountain of cigarette ends outside Grouse and Osprey, it's pretty shabby. It is as I say the student accommodation, but it's not particularly cheap to stay at, I've been using it since it opened and it's gradually declining. The rooms are actually great, but the beds are torturous, cheap thinly padded mattresses that are now well past their sell by date. Cleaning wise, I stay typically for 5 days, and you get one service of the room and towel exchange during that time. Just don't stay thinking you are going to get an unbroken nights sleep, doors slam loudly, laminate flooring everywhere and the walls are paper thin. But, you get what you pay for, that does not excuse the lack of exterior cleaning, and the quality (or lack of it) of the mattress.

Design fault with heating ensures nightmare stay!
As it was summer, Inverness was fully booked on this trip so opted to stay at recently built university campus (Osprey building) as my base to visit various locations. Sadly the design and/or construction ensures the bedrooms don't go under 27 or 28C at night, which explains why every window in building is left open 24/7. When I (and others) complained the rather rude and incompetent staff (especially the woman with dark hair and eyeliner who kept telling everyone she was a qualified building planner?!) kept giving the standard 'we are looking at the issue' response but were unable or unwilling to say for how long or able to resolve! A quick search on google shows they already had this 'heat not leaving the building issue' over a year ago!! I was eventually supplied with a fan but temp never dipped below 26C throughout my 5 nights there. Also, the building only gets cleaned once per week, resulting in overfilled bins, fag ends scattered outside the front doors, and at least 25 Tesco trollies dumped outside complex by students too lazy to return them. The 20 minute walk to the city centre involves walking through a run down estate where the bus service stops around 8pm, so after that only option if not to walk is a taxi for around ten pounds one way. Shocking service and fob off answers to any complaints. They will rake in the tourist money during summer months with their bad service, after that they will be back to catering just for students. Never to be repeated.
