Great B&B
Bed was uncomfortable but in all this is a great little place to stay - great owners. Also the restaurant is closed on Saturday but hotel provided a continental breakfast of muffins and cinnamon rolls

The hotel was described as "historic." What it was, was very primitive and old. Worn linens, creaky wooden floors, old furniture, a plywood bathroom vanity top. Tiny window air conditioner that ran all the time to keep up. Toiletries were supplied our first night, but NO maid service followed. We received no more toiletries, no clean towels, and our beds were unmade when we returned for our second night after exploring the area all day. For $112.00 a night (with tax) for their least expensive room, one would expect a lot more than this. No breakfast included with the room because they have an attached restaurant. We paid $6.00 for an order of "Texas Toast" French toast with hash browns. It was NOT Texas toast. The pieces were 4 x 4 x 1/2 inch and we got three of them with a 3 x 3 inch patty of hash browns. No fruit, no meat. No microwave or refrigerator in the rooms. You share the ones in the "lounge". You check in through the restaurant which is open 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you want to check in after that you better call so they can explain how you pick up your key. The staff was friendly and the area has lots to see. Fort Davis State Park and Historical site and the McDonald Observatory were all awesome. The building is for sale. I hope the next owner understands Texas hospitality and quality, because this wasn't it.

The hotel website really builds up your expectations for this "historic" hotel." For $112 per night, there were serious shortcomings. The hotel is very old and primitive, though the rooms were clean. Creaky wood floors, old bathroom fixtures, plywood counter top, tiny window air conditioner that really struggled with the Texas summer heat. Toiletries present on night one, but NO MAID service and no replacement of toiletries! Our beds were still unmade when we returned for the evening. No refrigerator or microwave oven, though they are available in a "lounge" on the second floor with the rooms. You check in at the restaurant so it must be before 7:30 pm for personal service. No breakfast is provided, not even a continental one, and though the food at the hotel restaurant was tasty, the portions were very, very small for the price. We ordered "Texas Toast" french toast. Three 4 x 4 x 1/2 inch pieces of bread and a small patty of hashbrowns for $6.00. These are NOT Texas portions for the price! No meat and no fruit with this plate! The only positive was the friendly staff. The building is for sale. Let's hope the new owners improve the amenities and the service.

Classic Historic West Texas
Classic historic Texas hotel. Gives the feel of the old west days but the rooms are entirely modernized, i.e., refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV, etc. Nearby attractions all of which I highly recommend include the McDonald Observatory, Fort Davis National Historic Site, and the Chihuahua Desert Research Institute. The hotel also operates a restaurant downstairs offering a variety of food, great breakfast (excellent pancakes) and lunch and dinner. I recommend the chicken fried steak. There are not too many other opportunities for dining in Fort Davis that I found. The only drawback to the hotel is the long flight of narrow stairs to get up to the rooms. I didn't investigate enough to see if there was any handicap access and you should call before reserving to find out. I loved the place and would definitely stay there again.

Not Bad!
It was the perfect room for our needs and the people running the hotel and drug store were friendly and easy to deal with. It’s located right in the middle of town. The room was clean and quaint. The shower was nice and hot. Minor drawback having to go to the end of the second floor for coffee, refrigerator and microwave but it’s an older building. We would stay there again.
