Hostal Be Condesa

Nice hostile, spotlessly clean.

This hostel was great in every way - the location was superb (in the heart of Condesa neighbourhood), price was very cheap, room and amenities were very clean, and very friendly staff. Overall the stay was a pleasant one. However, there was one thing that somewhat ruined the experience. It seems that some of the valuables I left in the room locker was stolen. I was counting down the money left in my bag (I left in the locker) and I was short by 200 dollars. I made sure that the lockers were locked every time and the bag was inside the locker at all times - so only likely explanation is that someone entered my room, opened the locker, and pickpocketed some cash. I only found this out on the day of leaving unfortunately. Without this event, this hostel would've been perfect.

Hostal Be Condesa is a nice, clean hostel, conveniently located in the Hipódromo neighborhood of Mexico City. I stayed in a 4-bed shared dorm, which was very clean and well-appointed. The hostel provides you with a key for the lockers in your room, as well as sheets, a pillow, a towel, and toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion). The beds are made each day. The bathrooms are clean and private (one person per bathroom), not the normal dorm-style bathrooms found at most hostels. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Breakfast is provided, though it is very basic (a few types of cereal, milk, juice, and occasionally some fruit). The hostel does not have a party atmosphere. They do not arrange group tours or daily activities for hostel guests. But I still met a lot of great, friendly travelers who were staying here, mostly in their 20s and 30s and from a variety of countries. I've stayed in numerous hostels around the world, and if you're looking for a nice, clean, conveniently-located hostel without a "party" vibe, this is a great choice.
