A quirky, interesting place to stay. Drew was very charming and helpful as were the rest of the staff. Showers were very good. Food very good too. Would recommend a stay here.

Not Allowed to Check In. No Refund
Made a reservation for the room at Ardoch House in Glasgow, Scotland at around 11 pm on 11 July 2019. My family and I arrived at the hotel around midnight. Instead of being able to check in, the night manager met us as we were about to get out of our car and told us that the hotel was closed and that they do not accept reservations after 11 pm. We were basically turned away. He told us that the hotel automatically gives a refund for any reservation made after 11 pm. My wife, our 2 kids and myself had to look for another place to stay for the night. We were not able to find any available. Not only we did not, and have not received to-date, a refund, we had to drive several miles to the city in Glasgow as the hotel was in a dark and remote rural place outside of the city. We finally ended up sleeping in the crammed car, alongside our 3 luggage bags, which was parked on a roadside outside a gas station. I asked Hotels.com to get us the refund. They asked me to call the hotel directly "we called the property to get the status of your refund but they were unable to see your reservation. We highly suggest for you is to also contact the property on their hotline number 4474-8826-1730. " I do not understand why I need to call as the only record that I have of my reservation is the one on Hotels.com, which Hotels.com should be able to use for its communication with the property.

Never been treated like this - Narrow minded man
Received a call in the morning saying our accommodation had been cancelled due to a landslide making it impossible for cars to get there. Said we were hiking so it wasn't a problem. Didn't notice any indication of a landslide anywhere! When we arrived our "Luxury Safari Tent with Electricity, Heating and Hot Tub" - "161-sq-foot (15-sq-meter) individually decorated room, furnished patio with mountain views" turned out to be … 2m x 2m (± 4m²), not the promised 3m x 5m (± 15m²) with 2 (uncomfortable!) beds squashed in next to each other (owner blamed "American" measurements!) The "electricity" was a caravan electrical plug behind the tent and you had to bring your own cable (not likely when we were hiking) Asked how it was "heated" (not that we needed it), the owner said he would supply a heater but it's no use without electricity The hot tub was in another small tent for use by everybody The "furnished patio" was the patio on the house, not part of the "Luxury Safari Tent" When anything was raised with the owner he simply said "I wish you well" and tried pushing his hand into mine to shake on it, i.e., off you go, however we had just walked 7 hours to get there and had no intention of leaving with nowhere to go. He later came down and spoke to my partner saying we could stay there "as his guest" and he would refund our money as he didn't want "Narrow minded men" in his house, i.e., me! Still waiting for the refund!

Worst experience ever
This is not a Hotel. Very disappointed. Wanted £25 per person for dinner (see attached picture), starters never arrived, main meal - no comment (see picture), drinks can after food, deserts never arrived as we were told they were frozen... can’t call it service at all. Owner still can to ask for money thou. Room was ok, but feathers pillows sweaty old smell. I couldn’t even sleep on them. Walls so thin that I could hear couple either on corridor or next door enjoying themselves at 4am. Ruined whole family weekend. No one there for checkout so couldn’t give a feedback in person. Wasnt even bothered to have breakfast, as it was “help yourself with what you can find in the kitchen. Btw 3 dogs and cat were running all around kitchen during all the time. Yes, talking about same kitchen where breakfast was and all the food was prepar d previous night. Definitely won’t be coming back and do not recommend.

Not a Hotel,misleading.
We booked the suite downstairs, however we were sharing supposedly our bathroom with the campers outside. It is also not a Hotel it is Bed and Breakfast, the breakfast being help yourself with everyone else staying. Not really what we were expecting for the money. The staff were lovely, the house and kitchen were spotless, the location was beautiful.
