Great location, friendly & helpful staff. Bed was very comfortable. English speaking front office staff.
The friendliest, most helpful staff. They found drivers for us; took care of me with special food when I got sick; engaged us in good conversations. Beautiful old colonial building with gorgeous patios, even a small pool. Very quiet, too.
Quaint snd very friendly service. Best location 1/2 block to Zocalo. Very comfortable beds and nice bathroom. Quiet when wr were there and adequate TV channels in English. Lovely outdoor seating on common patios, pool and breakfast patio. Much nicer than more expensive hotel that was our initial firstchoice on line but in person we were glad we got Hotel de la Parra instead
This hotel is centrally located off the Zocalo, personally I think the northern end of the town around Santo Domingo is more charming (especially at night). The hotel itself is solid, rather than boutique or exceptional. The ground floor room I had was tired, very dark, unheated (it was a cold night) and a cockroach greeted me when I arrived and the wi-fi was cranky. All first world problems, but added up to a solid stay rather than delightful stay. I wouldn't class this as a boutique hotel, its bog standard - so not terrible value, but neither basic and cheap, or pricey but stunning.
My wife and our 6 month old daughter came to Oaxaca for a one-week stay, hoping to both discover the region, but also have some time to just relax. The pool and courtyard were our main reason for selecting this hotel and we weren't disappointed. We travel a lot and stay in a wide range of hotels for business. Because of this, I tend to focus on more overall things in reviews. Overall, this hotel was exactly what we wanted - a charming place, located such that nothing we did in town was within a 10-minutes walk. The staff was so friendly and were the same each day - so it was like a new little family. The rooms were nice. While ours wasn't too big, the 3 of us were very comfortable, especially considering the public seating areas around the property and the pool. There are many food choices within blocks of the hotel, as well as a good breakfast on-site, plus a pool bar. The hotel helped us to negotiate / arrange per-hour cabs for a few day trips to places like Mitla. The other nice thing was that the Mercado 22 Nov. and the other large market near it were only a 2-3 min walk. Oaxaca itself is textured and vibrant, in a similar way that Trinidad and Bangkok are. Rewarding for the adventurous who want to learn about other cultures - but perhaps intimidating for those that don't understand the context of the city and the state. If we return, we will definitely stay at this hotel again!
