Stately Franklin Manor
Franklin Manor is a lovely old house with space. The double room was large and old fashioned to suit the house, with a large bathroom. The bed had heated blankets and really nice bedding. Tea and coffee was generous and separated a little from the bedroom. We were lucky to park in the grounds but there is roadside parking if you arrive late. Breakfast was good and the service was unobtrusive. There are public rooms if you want to sit somewhere other than your room. The town Strachan is very beautiful and in easy reach of Tarraleah falls. There are a few restaurants around most of which were closed unfortunately so we had fresh fish & chips on the waterfront.

Minute Shower in ensuite, needed to get out to turn around. Bed room was overcrowded with 2 large lounge chairs facing away from the TV/window. Pillows had passed their use by date; a rolled up towel would have been more comfortable. Bed linen was scratchy. A bright red and gold brocade synthetic Dona cover was unbelievably uncomfortable to sleep under. all of this sold as a "suite" Continental breakfast was spartan.

Beautiful Franklin Manor
Franklin Manor was beautiful & everything we expected. Very clean, beautiful grounds & friendly staff. Very comfortable to relax by the fire at the end of the day or in the lounge by the bar.

Our expectations from the reviews created a false illusion. We were disappointed to see that we were in room 12 on the first floor. The room had character but needed some upgrades. The walls were paper thin so we would hear our neighbors in room 14. We could easily hear the people above us walking. So, the rooms on the first floor didn’t offer much privacy. Possibly if you stayed on the second floor it might not be so noisy. Location was good but we wouldn’t go back to this B & B.
