The location is, without doubt, amazing! The transport from the customer parking space to the hotel, in an old, sturdy Land Rover, was good fun and gave a good look at the scenery.
The staff at the check-in was nice and quick, all looked well.
Getting to the room started the trouble: It seems that over the course of the pandemic, rather than fixing the place us, it was left to decay. So everything had a quite worn feel and look to it. For us the most unfortunate was the skylight which is clearly shown in the pictures. In reality, it was "closed" (the whole thing was half hanging down) and asking if we can open it, we were told that it, and all the other ones, are broken. Staying persistent, someone came to the room and kindly pushed it open with a broomstick. We still couldn't see much through it due to sand on top of the tent, but after all, it's a dessert and this has to be expected I guess.
The second major upside was the great food at the dinner. A good selection of local dishes was available, and again the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, the experience was hindered by loud international pop-music and the fact that the beautiful view at the sunset was blocked by thick curtains which couldn't be opened because they were broken.
Taking our plates outside solved that, luckily.
Overall, the place has great potential and surely used to be great. Now it probably needs someone to look after the place to make it great again.
