Nice hotel in a somewhat seedy neighborhood, but very close to the main station and the old town. Excellent breakfast, friendly staff, clean. Beautiful terrace,
BUT
in spite of what we had booked we were put in one of the apartments. They are not in the same building, so you have to take the elevator (costs 10 cents for each ride) down again and then cross a street to get to the first floor of another building. That is very inconvenient and also makes it much harder to make good use of the terrace.
A big apartment was converted into several small apartments. Our room did not have a balcony, and the only window opened to a small side streets where the neighbors are pretty close.
But worst, the walls are so thin, we could hear every word neighbors on both sides were saying as well as the creaking wooden stairs in each room. One time a neighbor even must have stood so close to the wall that not only turned their TV was turned on, but ours too.
I did complain after the first night, but since we wanted to go to Pompeii all day they said they could not give us another room (if it had been possible at all).
So unfortunately another night without "Sweet Sleep".
