Very nice hotel but the room was way overpriced for its size. Tiny...tiny room with absolutely no space for even a toiletry bag on the bathroom counter and very poor lighting in the bathroom as well. Didn't like the automatic food and beverage charge of $15 per day which was a use it or loose it charge, a complete rip-off; a way for the hotel to get more money out of you. We were shocked when we arrived that there was an additional daily $25.00 resort fee charge not quoted by hotels.com during booking. The hotel is close to everything but not beach side. Luckily we had access to the Shelborne hotel beach and pool so this was ok (if you like to cross the street and walk a little). We booked a room with two queen beds. Not a honeymoon type arrangement, so we found very uncomfortable that the shower area was open to the room with clear doors. Also, the mirror in the shower area had two clear panels on either side of it that made the area visible to where the beds are placed. Not any privacy when showering. That would cause me not […] to book this again. Also, the hallways are not carpeted and the noise from people on the halls was very loud. The rooms were small, but the design was great. There wasn't a lot of surface area for us to put our belongings in the room we had. It was a great location and elevated our stay in SoBe. The staff was very friendly and the pool was fantastic!

The bed was against the window and accessible only from one side (very inconvenient for 2 people sharing) and there was absolutely no place other than the floor for luggage. Excellent location, close to South Beach attractions. Great restaurant. initially stayed in room 232 ,which is loud as it is over the nightclub . The hotel moved me for a bump up price of 100 dollars night. Overall, very good hotel. Beach access across street T sister hotel.

The Gale was in a perfect location - a block from the beach, shopping, and the conference center, so you can choose to work or play in seconds. There's also an excellent rooftop heated pool, but I just wish they were open later (we got booted from the rooftop though we were just having a quiet get-together with a drink). Lastly, the rooms are a little […] pricey and there is a $25/day resort fee, but you can use $15 of that for food/drink purchases each day (we just ate breakfast in the mornings or grabbed pastries to go). Honestly the resort fee is worth it if you use their sister hotel (Shelbourne) beach access with beach chairs/towels/umbrellas and make sure to use your $15 on food. Mehr

The Gale is a new hotel (2-3 months old) that is trying to be all things to everyone. It is trying to be upscale restaurant, a dance club, a lounge, and an upscale hotel. Ultimately if you take on too much you fail at all. If you are on the first floor expect to be right next to the hallway that leads from one bar to the next. This hotel has been renovated and furnished beautifully, and it really shows in the public areas and restaurants. However, signature rooms are tiny (smaller than any NYC hotel room I've ever stayed in), and lack even a full-sized closet. Bathrooms lack doors (the, albeit beautiful, glass and marble showers are visible from the entryway). My shower knob came off so i had ti take a scalding hot shower (i called to switch rooms but nobody answered at the front desk), I asked for a robe and was called numerous times telling me "there is one in the room" when there wasn't, and the room service number wouldn't work. Considering the room rate was over $500/night we had expected something lager than a monk's cell. Was also not pleased to find on arrival that the hotel imposed an additional $25/night resort fee that was not part of the of the Hotel.com charge. We would not go back.

Our room was located next to the bar (which operated until the wee hours of the morning). The noise from the bar became louder each night - the final straw was the piano player (who played on our last night of our stay at the Gale). The staff (in the same spirit of the patrons) could be heard closing the bar (4:40 a.m.) Thin walls and close proximity […] to the bar did not make for sound sleep. Since we were told upon check in that we had the last room with a Queen sized bed, we were stuck for the duration - in spite of the fact we had booked well in advance. In addition the cable was out on the HDTV for about a third of our visit. We were continually told it would be repaired in "just a few minutes". Upon checking out we were told that there was nothing that they could do (in the form of compensation). We were advised that if we had called the desk about the noise that they could have relocated us (2:00 in the a.m. to a room without a queen), or they could have told the people in the bar to keep the volume down. In short there was nothing that could be done for us. Based on their stock responses they have obviously received similar complaints from other patrons. For the room rate we could have stayed at an equally nice (and quieter) hotel. Mehr

The room was very stylish and modern but unbelievably tiny. A closet only big enough to hang a few shirts. Strange that there was a giant king-sized bed (it was supposed to be a queen) but no furniture like a chair or chest of drawers. Consequently we had to leave our clothes in our bags. Great bathroom. Gale South Beach is gorgeous! Great location, not too noisy, and a block away from the beach, but with a roof deck pool, why would you go to the beach. The Hotel has modern decor, and the staff is so very friendly, and seem to genuinely have a good time working there. When sharing space with families in the common areas that have children, it can get a bit dicey. The pool is neither large or deep, which makes it a bit uncomfortable when children are playing and running around, and slipping. Beautifully modernized boutique hotel. Recalls the roaring 20's while providing modern amenities - big screen TV, internet, great shower. Some of the rooms have no view at all so if that is important to you, be sure to find out what type of room you ae getting. Rooftop pool is amazing and you are in the beautiful art deco area.

Nice hotel but awake with pounding music until 3 am the first night and 5 am the second night because they have a nightclub in lower level. They need to decide to either be a hotel or nightclub. Would not return because of this!

We got a discount rate on the room so we rolled the dice... should have paid more. The room was small but very nice and clean. Unfortunately they don't tell you there is a $25 resort fee, and heaven forbid you have a car and get hit with a $37 fee every time the valet picks up your car. Why valet? Because there is no parking lot that you can use to […] manually park. Save your money and don't rent a car, everything in South Beach is within walking distance anyways. The roof top pool is very nice with a glass-looking surface, but don't be fooled by the picturesque advertisement that makes it look like the ocean is at your fingertips. It's still 2 blocks away. The front desk employees are not kind at all, it seemed they had been working overtime on a daily basis and just didn't care about the guests. The restaurant manager was a complete pig, rude as they come, ordering the wait staff around and intentionally embarrassing them, not to mention when my wife and I just wanted a coffee for breakfast and passed on the $25 omelet, he turned into a complete jerk to us as well. Overall it's decent, but better look at a bigger hotel with a better restaurant, kinder staff, and closer to the beach. Mehr

The hotel is clean and has been updated. Parking is not included, but there is a lot behind the hotel where you can park for $25 per day. $15 of the $25 service fee can be used for breakfast. Somehow they charged us for the breakfast, but agreed to make an adjustment. Check your charges upon leaving to avoid a mistake like that. Room had excellent features such as great TV that you can operate with your iPhone, electronic do not disturb, wireless key fob, clothes steamer, etc., but room was very small with limited closet. hardwood floors in the halls look great, but are noisy. Disco pounds on weekends until 3 AM. Bar in the back […] is awesome. No Parking on site (you can valet for $37 per day). Maid service did not come one day, even after requested at the front desk. Checked in on Tuesday the 15th of Jan for a single night. While checking in I was informed of a mandatory $25/day "resort fee". I've paid resort fees before, but $25 is on the high end. I had expected no resort fee given its distance from Ocean Drive and the fact that it is a pretty nice hotel overall. As with most Miami Beach hotels, the rate you pay […] online is NOT the rate you will pay in the end. That being said, the rooms are pretty nice. Nicely decorated, big TV, comfy bed, etc. Only problem with the room was that the handle in the shower was broken. It took fifteen minutes to figure out how to get it to the right temperature. Before booking, make sure you tack on the additional $25-$60 ($35 valet with no easy alternative options) in your head to get the real cost of your stay. The Gale is worth it for a night out, but if you're looking for a Miami-on-the-beach vacation save up a bit more money and go somewhere comparable on the water. Mehr

the beds were comfortable but the service was slow or not at all. the rooms are extremely small with no real closet space, no chair or desk. The restaurant is very slow and not organized. The location is good. It is overpriced for what you get.
