Staff was very welcoming and wonderfully accomodating. The hotels.com description lists wifi as being free, but the hotel only provides free wifi if you join their loyalty program (which is free).

Everything about our experience at the Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia was positive. The hotel is stylish and conveniently located, and the staff were invariably helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

This was a great hotel to stay in for a few days to see some of the sights of old city, and check out some of the center city eateries. The staff was really helpful and friendly. The most compelling thing about the hotel, besides being very comfortable and extremely well located, is that the decor is very cool in a flamboyant way. Historical pictures […] of the Mummers was both authentic to Philly and original. The beds and linens were high quality and the bathroom was very nice. The views from the hotel are great even on the lesser side which faces the old PA bank building. The room was impeccable when we checked in, but our only grip was that the daily cleaning was mediocre and it seemed they didn't vacuum daily -- very evident if you have kids leaving crumbs here and there. The rooftop bar is beautiful with a cool stately offce meets designer lounge feel. The DJ dropped some cool tracks on a friday night and the resident mixologist takes her job seriously; if you like whiskey, don't miss the Old Friend! We would definitely return. Mehr

I only wished I had thought to ask for a room with a tub. We were in town for the Regatta which involved some work that a soak would have helped. The Shower was large but the water could have been hotter. The interior design was fun and perfect for a quick weekend

This hotel is excellent. I've stayed at five star hotels and it is the little touches that I appreciate. I expect a wonderfully comfortable bed with high end linens (great at Kimpton), but what is the extra touch is that there is a room thermostat right near the headboard, so that you don't have to get out of bed to adjust the temperature. If you're a tourist, I'd definitely recommend staying here, it's very conveniently placed. My husband and I were away for a romantic weekend, and it just wasn't well suited for that. The staff seemed to not really know what they were doing, I'm a rewards member and wasn't offered an upgrade, although the gentleman next to me was (and they always at […] least mention that there aren't any available when I've stayed at Kimpton's previously). Barking dogs all night one evening, lots of events going on, and too many people not knowing what to do with themselves for my tastes. Not the most relaxing. My boyfriend and I stated here for 3 nights, and it was such a treat. The design and location were totally exceptional, but the staff and courtesy put the experience over the top! I can't say enough great things about this hotel. The location was incredible; the staff was amazing - friendly, helpful, professional; the room was comfortable and beautiful. My only regret is that I didn't go by the tavern or up to the rooftop lounge. But I will next time - because I definitely plan to go back.

Everything was just perfect about our two-night stay at the Monaco. The room literally looked out at Independence Hall. Everything was comfortable and in perfect condition, and the staff was very helpful. Even the complimentary lotion was superb. The hotel is a historic structure that has just been renovated in a funky, fun manner. There is a hip rooftop […] bar as well as a restaurant on the ground floor. It is in the best location possible for exploring the historic area. The one thing you might want to keep in mind is that the parking at the hotel is high, and so if you want to park at the public parking (at the Ritz Cinema) which is cheaper but still pricey, plan ahead. Also, because it is a city street, be ready to hop out of the car with all the things handy you need for your stay, because the cheerful valet parkers will take your car promptly. Mehr

The best customer service! The room was beautiful and everything we needed was available for us. The only problem was the bathroom floor that was very slippery to walk on after taking a shower. We ended up using every towel in our room to wipe up the floor.

I am a big fan of Kimpton Hotels and have stayed in many including 3 different Monaco's. This one was as lovely as the rest EXCEPT for the staff which ignored my needs the entire 3 nights. My room was never made up after my first night. Three phone calls to the front desk from mid afternoon to right before I left for dinner still didn't get housekeeping […] to my room. I finally had to call down for towels at midnight. No conceirge to speak of in a hotel where it was filled with tourists (across the street from The Liberty Bell). Not a street map of the neighborhood could be found for me (two requests!). When my room was finally made up on my third day dirty coffee cups and wine glasses were not removed and my sheets were not changed. All in all a great disappointment and I will not stay there again. The Monaco is gorgeous and fresh. There's nothing conventional about the decor. Sort of an Alice-In-Wonderland feel with the Mummers photos on brightly-colored walls on long, narrow hallways. Teapots as pendant lamps. I actually found it a refreshing antidote to 18th century Old City overload. It has one of the best equipped fitness rooms I've seen […] in a hotel. The front desk staff was friendly and knowledgable. Roshid was a perpetual motion machine, constantly re-filling the morning coffee urns, picking up used cups, and offering to re-fill guests' cups. He genuinely cares about the Monaco's guests. Unfortunately the housekeeping service doesn't quite have its act together. Maybe it's because the hotel is only 6 months old. Our room wasn't made up after our first night. We mentioned it to the front desk and to the housekeeping staff. The next morning our beds were made, but the ice bucket full of water was left next to the bathroom sink. Mehr
