After a long but beautiful drive, this was a lovely surprise. Check out the route you will take if you are in a rush as sat nav took me the scenic way!Room recently done to a very good standard. Bar meal great. Only sad thing was that i was working, as i was tempted to put on my walking boots and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

Great place to stay from which to exlore parts of the Western lakes. Bedroom was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. Would go again.

We loved our stay at Irton Hall. It is in a countryside location away from the major centres of the Lake District. There is a road connecting Ambleside with Holmrook, however be warned that if there has been a lot of snow this road may be closed - which is what happened during our visit - so we had to take a more scenic route. This didn;t really matter […] to us because we saw some amazing scenery and fells on our alternative route, but it probably took almost an hour from the main centres of Lake District. Not sure how often this direct route is closed, we were probably just unlucky and I suspect it is not closed very often. Our room at Irton Hall was luxurious, king sized comfortable bed, nice bath, very clean and comfortable. The building is very nice and surrounding countryside quite beautiful. Mehr

Nice hotel, looks good as you drive up, room very nice especially the massive bed and bathroom. Bar/restaurant isnt very big and there not really any other places to eat/drink within reasonable distance. Dont expect to be able to stay here longer than a night or two really. Mega roads around though :)

We stayed on a Saturday evening for a walking break. The building and grounds are very impressive. Getting there was O.K but it is quite out of the way. The route we took went over moors on very twisting roads that could induce some sickness if taking it too quickly. Upon arriving, the staff were very friendly and attentive and walked us to our room.The […] room was nicely decorated. The bathroom was o.k although the shower screen wasn't really up to task and the floor did get incredibly wet. It was very white, clinical and stark as decor though. We had lunch in the bar area which was pleasant and good service. The evening time was a different story all together. We only managed to get a table because another couple were leaving a few mins after we arrived. Food took approximately 2 hours to arrive with no explanation as to the delay. It was tasty and we enjoyed it but it wasn't worth the 2 hours wait. Before we arrived we did ask to see if they stocked a particular sparkling wine, which they said they didn't, but they did order us a bottle specially. That was incredible customer service and it was a very nice wine, however, due to the 2 hour wait for our food, the wine was gone long before we ate. At breakfast all other rooms seemed to have a table alloocated except for us and we needed to wait for one to be set up. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. Great place, fabulous area, friendly helpful staff and some really decent prices. Just let down by a few niggly things. Mehr

This is the third time i have booked this hotel for business and i have enjoyed my stay each time. 4 stars as can be slightly noisy in the night and the jet bath didnt work.Location is great (although dont use a sat nav to get there!) setting is beautiful and staff are good!

Everything was excellent. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Room fantastic with a spa bath. Bed very comfortable with a great nights sleep. Bar / Restaurant excellent, well priced and great food. Enjoyable and comfortable stay in one of the cottages.We had our evening meal in the hotel restaurant which was very good and reasonably priced.The chef catered for our special needs as our daughter is allergic to nuts and we enjoyed our meal without worrying. Really of the beaten track,beautifull hills and waterfalls.The only downside was the drive in and out of The village, not for the faint hearted.I would return tomorrow.

This was a last minute booking. We literally booked 1hr and half before we there. We never venture to that side of the Lakes and although the Sat Nav took uson the most nerve wracking journey. We were delighted when we arrived a beautiful Hall stood in stunning grounds. We had dinner and drinks all was at a reasonable price and the food was lovely. The […] bedroom blew us away. We coul not believe what we had booked we were overy tight budget and every penny we spent was worth it. We have already recommended our family visit and our work colleagues. Stephen and his staff were all very lovely and friendly. There was only one flaw and this is only because I am picky, not enough tea and coffee selection in the room. Only PG and full caffine coffee, I only drink earl grey and my hubbie only likes decaf. Otherwise visit and don't use the sat Sat Nav use a Map and go on the A595 Mehr

Beautiful buildings, exterior well maintained, pleasant grounds. Interiors beautifully decorated with good standard of fittings and finish. The staff were helpful and friendly and the receptionist was very informative about the history of the hotel. The food was excellent, varied menus with plenty of choices, and well presented. Irton Hall is a beautiful place to stay in a beautiful location. We stayed for one night as part of a short walking break. The staff were very friendly and attentive, both in the evening and at breakfast next morning. The bar is pub-like in atmosphere, with real ales and good quality, good value pub-style food in generous portions. The breakfast the […] next morning was also very good. We stayed in a deluxe room, which was a bit on the small side but on the plus side it had excellent storage and wardrobe space. The bathroom was very good, with an excellent shower and jacuzzi bath (which was a delight!). It is important to remember that this is not a hotel, but high-quality self-catering and B&B accommodation. There are plans for a restaurant, but these are stuck in our wonderful planning system apparently! Mehr

Stayed for 2 nights in August. A lovely mansion house which is perfectly presented. Very clean ground, both outside and in. The rooms were large with lovely large en suite bathrooms with whirlpool baths. I-Pod docking and free wi-fi. Bar whch serves nice food and reasonably priced. Had a lovely 2 night stay. Stayed in a superior double room with great view over frount grounds, room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was spotless and the jacuzzi bath was a lovely touch. Staff so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Great stay with kids, plenty of space for them to run about. Food excellent. Felt with chilled out and relax. Loved it so much we are booking again for next year! Really recommend it.

En route to the hotel the sat nav packed up, which didn't help at all. However, this isn't such a bad thing as the postcode is nowhere near the hotel! Print off your own maps before you setoff! When arrived, the hotel had received no booking and all the B&B rooms were full. However, going above and beyond, the staff put us in the "house" next door which […] normally sleeps 9! The hotel was fine. Our bathroom smelt of bad drains, which we did report and were advised it may be as the room hadn't been used recently. The decor is nice. It's clear the place has had quite a bit of money spent on it - it just looks not quite finished. Small details like unfinished cracks on the wall which could have been cleaned up quite simply. […] The man on reception was clearly new and didn't seem to have much experience when we spoke to him. Hotel is nice but food service was dissapointing. Initially had trouble finding the place as we relied on Sat Nav based on the hotels postcode and this led us to an Outwood Bound Centre some 3km away. Room was smaller than expected but nice decor and view. Fridge present in room but only stocked water - a few drinks would have been nice. We ventured […] to the bar to order order which was eaten within same location. Food was very dissapointing and both dishes ordered Salmon & Lamb were well below decent quality standard expected with lamb being extremelyfatty and dry salmon being served without a sauce. Very pleased with our room and the hotel in general. Andy and his staff were very friendly and welcoming. We could also recommend the food in the hotel, very reasonable and delicious. We would happily recommend the hotel, and remember to bring your walking boots!
