Humura Resort - Kampala

We stayed here 2 days before our trio out trekking for gorillas and 2 days afterwards. The description makes you believe that the hotel location is quite central, but it really isn't. Most attractions require a taxi cab (which are bloody expensive) to get to from the hotel.The hotel is very pretty to look at, the rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly. […] However, there is little provided in terms of services and this is definitely not a resort but a middle range hotel. The food is mediocre, the menu never changed, and my vegetarian friend was offered little variety in meals. I really wanted a glass of red wine with dinner but all 4 nights I stayed there nothing but bottles were available though a house red wine was advertised. They were unwilling to open up a bottle for me to have. In addition, if you are leaving early in the morning for activities like we were, do not believe the time they say breakfast starts, late every morning. Also, I wanted to get a manicure and post some items in the mail back home. Until I pushed them to help me find a spa or post the mail for me, they were reluctant to provide any support (which is important when you are a tourist... why rely on your iphone when you PAY to stay at a "resort.") Trust me, I was grateful for the hot shower and nice bed after our trek but I really feel like I paid too much money. Mehr

We were in Kampala for the first time on a limited schedule and wanted a safe, quiet hotel close to the city center. It wasn't exactly walking distance to many of the offices we needed to get to or sights we wanted to see, but the hotel was very helpful in arranging transport. The grounds are lovely and we had a great deluxe double room with a wonderful […] view. It is good to be a little bit outside the hectic downtown area and it is close to a number of good restaurants. The hotel serves a wonderful breakfast buffet. I try to make it a point to stay in locally owned hotels if possible and this is probably the best one in Kampala. Many of the guests appeared to be consultants as the UN headquarters in right across the street. My only advice would be when booking to make sure that you are booking through Trip Advisor so that you can take advantage of the hotel's best discount rates. It is really a bargain. Mehr

A decent enough hotel, located centrally and the rooms are good. They need to pay some attention to the bathroom fittings and get in some good quality, durable products in there - especially taps and showers and flushing system. Other than that, they also need to improve on their TV offerings - DSTV for instance. Good location close to US and Swedish Embassy, Big market and good heath care service. Safe area during the day but use taxi after dark! The pool was not clean.

The hotel was good. Quite a walk from the main centre (about 45 minutes) but only about 20 minutes to a relatively good shopping mall. The room itself was good, clean and airy. Humura Resort is centrally situated and has comfortable and spacious rooms with fast internet. But at the time I was staying there, I found few other guests and generally poor services. No hot water in the bathroom, spa closed down (despite it still appearing on signposts and publicity), no international channels on TV, and a restaurant which, despite […] a 10-page menu, struggled to provide a decent sandwich. Moreover the water in the pool was a nasty green colour which nobody in their right mind would think of swimming in (though I noticed they were cleaning it as I left!). Take away the fancy decor and you are left with a 2 star dumpster. This hotel is simply not worth it. Hotel staff is friendly. But the restaurant and its staff are in a terrible state. The prices they charge don't match the product. Be prepared to get up early in the morning as it is very noisy from staff and birds (crows) and the sound finds its way […] surprisingly easy into the room. Not a place for relaxing. Very friendly and helpfull staff! They do their upmost to make your stay as convenient as possible. In real Humara resort is better than it seems to be on the pictures! I recomend this accomodation
