Birchfield Guest House - York

I was pleased with my room and was given a single room as was my friend at no extra cost even though we booked a twin room. Both rooms were well maintained and pleasantly furnished but cold and no heating came on even in the evening. The breakfast was poor and given that it was desccribed as a 'full' breakfast we felt very let down by the make it yourself […] toast ,cereals and watery juice on offer. The lack of any staff at breakfast and lack of response when I pressed the bell that was supposed to summon help was annoying and the like of which I have never encountered before. The breakfast area was very unwelcoming and there was a pile of used bed linen in one corner. It would have been a very miserable experience for a single traveller in particular. Mehr

This B&B was 10 mins walk from York train station and same to York centre. Superb B&B with friendly host. Cleanliness ten out of ten with as much tea and coffee and you want for your room. Continental breakfast is as much as you can eat with cheese, crumpets, cereal, toast, fruit. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Fantastic stay. Amazing location- we just walked everywhere from the guest house. Room was really spacious and extremely comfortable. Had everything you're expect and more. I would suggest contacting owner Steve direct when you make your booking to give him the chance to look after you personally.

Very nice, quiet, guest house within ten minutes walk of city centre. Rooms were clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Steve was most helpful and gave good advice on local amenities and getting best value during our short stay. Best to contact him direct for useful tips.

On arrival upgraded a room and soon found out nothing was a problem. Parking was at a premimum in the area but that was soon overcome with a parking permit. Steve the owner even rang us prior to departure for Estimated Time of Arrival so that he could greet us. All in all a very comfortable friendly hotel that comes highly recommended. Bob W

Very convenient location, close to all must-see sights. The owners are very nice and helpfull and ensure you get all the information you need to find them on your day of arrival. Was a very nice place to stay, was made to feel at home. Would defiantly stay again.

We stated one night in this Guest House. The rate is cheaper than most of the the guest house that you can find in central York. The neighbourhood is nice, walkable distance to central York. The room is big and comfortable, things are new and clean. Breakfast room is nicely setup and is self service breakfast with cereals and bread. Our stay is in winter […] time, I saw tables and seats in their small garden outside which is nice for summer time. People looking for full english breakfast B&B, this is not the one but given the rate of this hotel, I think they are giving the best of it. Once you arrived, a A4 paper full of information is provided to you which contains really good tourist information. Mehr
