"4 Tage in NO"Bewertet von Katrin K. aus "Stuttgart, Germany" am 31. Mrz. 2012

"In sicherer Lage gelegen"

"Nice stay and nice staff"
Federal city inn and suites was my option for a convention in New Orleans - I pretty much liked the hotel, it is really very calm, the staff is great and very helpful ( all of them were great with us). The internet connection is very good as well. Regarding the localization, it is a little bit far from downtown, if you have a car, no problem, but if […] you don't, the best way is to take a cab or going to the ferry services. Mehr
"Great Stay"
Hotel location seems a bit out of the way (In Algiers on opposite side of city centre to Airport so you should plan how to det there from the airport) but it is a 30 minute walk or ($8-$10) 5 minute taxi ride from the ferry that takes you to the base of Canal Street (ideal for French Quarter, Aquarium etc). The Ferry goes every half an hoiur from about […] 6.00am to 12.00pm, is Free, and takes about 10 minutes. Hotel is in very quiet location and not that well advertised, rooms are fairly basic but clean and have kitchen facilities. Very friendly and helpul at Reception. Free Wifi and reasonable price. Great base from which to see New Orleans. Mehr
"Beas"
Would recommend to anyone, was a great place to stay!!!
your desk clerks were great. very professional and curtious
"Great place to stay"
We had a great time. The hotel was very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was in walking distance of the ferry.
"not too far"
service very good
"Quiet and convenient"
What a find! A reasonably priced hotel with great quality, and only minutes away from the bustle of Canal Street. The Algiers ferry is a great service and cabs from the hotel are reasonable and friendly. The only drawbacks were not having a "headquarters" in the French Quarter for a rest during busy days, and the lack of food sources near the hotel […] . Mehr
"Safe, comfortable and reasonable"
We enjoyed our stay. The desk clerk was very helpful. Difficult to find but if you call the desk they will assist you. Felt very safe.
"quiet, safe and nice"
We loved the secure feeling we got from staying on this 'retired' Navy base. Loved the quaint, historic neighborhood of Algiers. The staff was helpful and friendly. The kitchen was a bonus. The only room for improvement is that our room was missing a black-out curtain and the vacuuming left some room for improvement but these are temporary, fixable […] things. The neighborhood restaurants, bars were all good and the close proximity to a FREE 10-minute ferry ride to New Orleans' French Quarter made going to the jazz festival very easy. We would stay here again. Mehr
"Federal City Inn and Suites, New Orleans, LA"
Overall we had a very nice state at Federal City Inn. The only problem was that it was difficult to get to. Even with the GPS we could not find it. After locating it the desk clerk gave us much easier directions in and out of Federal City. We had a large room with 2 queen beds, kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, coffee pot, sink and 2 burner stove. […] It was also equipped with cupboards containing a toaster, dishes and silverware. The bathroom and dressing area were clean and in good repair. The one problem with the hotel is that it had no elevator. We were on the 2nd floor (there are only 2 floors) and had to carry our luggage up the steps. The neighborhood was very quite over the weekend; more traffic on Monday morning when people were coming onto the Navy base to go to work. The only people living on the base were the Marines who were located behind the hotel. In the near future the area is getting a Subway and the YMCA will be opening soon. All-in-all we had a good stay here and I would not hesitate to stay again. One other thing, there is a ferry 1.5 miles away from the hotel that will take you over to the French Quarter side of the city which is about a 5 min. ride for no charge (FREE). We took the ferry twice in the 2 days we were there. It runs from 6am to 12am daily. Mehr
"Good Hotel"
I stayed at this property for a whole week during the Final Four. The location is ok considering it's way cheaper compared to staying by the French Quarter. I took a taxi ride $7 each way to the free ferry that takes you to canal street. The taxis were always late but it was worth the wait. Once you make it across the ferry buy a $3 all day pass from […] either the cable car or bus and its the cheapest way around town. If want to save money and stay in a good hotel this is it. I will stay here again when i return to nola. Mehr

"Quite Place"
This hotel is in a fortress! It's located inside an old navy base, but there's still an active marine training center there. There's also a police station just a couple buildings away. You will truly feel very safe here. Parking is kinda a nightmare in downtown N.O., so we would drive the 1.5 miles to the ferry, park our car at the ferry landing ($5/weekday […] & $10/weekend), walk on the ferry for free, and it drops you off right on Canal Street (vehicles can get ferry rides for $1). Depending on the cab company, we would get charged $17-$27 for a ride from downtown back to hotel. Clean rooms. Kitchenette was an added bonus. The hotel does not serve breakfast but there's a grocery store and a Super Wal-mart within 5 mins drive. The front desk staff were very pleasant. No elevator, so call ahead to reserve a 1st floor room if you don't wanna walk the one flight of stairs. I recommend this hotel if you don't mind being away from the "action". Mehr
"Federal INN Review"
Basically a great new hotel. just a few miles to Ferry Service into New Orleans. Signage not the greatest, we had difficulty finding it when we initially arrived.
"Federal City- a pleasant surprise"
clean, friendly, affordable. The staff was great! You really should have your own vehicle.
Huge room with full kitchen, very clean, great condition. No pool, exercise room, breakfast or coffee in lobby - just large, clean, well-equipped rooms. Located on a military base, with no restaurants in the immediate area, but just a few minutes from the Algiers neighborhood's small cafes, and a very short ride to the Algiers Point ferry to the French […] Quarter. Very quiet. Just booked my third stay and would do it again. Mehr

"Federal Inn & Suites - A great place to stay"
A great rate, a great room, plus it is only 1.5 miles from the free ferry crossing with a very low rate to park your car at the ferry dock. The ferry runs every half hour starting at 6 in the morning and the last boat is at midnight.. Considering the more expensive rooms and high parking fees to stay across the river, it is the a great alternativ […] e. Mehr
"Amazing Customer Service"
The Federal City Inn & Suites is a former navy lodge. The naval base was closed several years ago and now hosts the Marine Reserves and a few federal government offices. Unfortunately, Federal City is not located within walking distance of many stores, restaurants, or tourist destinations. However, it is only a single exit off of highway 10 from the […] French Quarter, Aquarium, and other sites. Alternatively, there is an auto and pedestrian ferry that will take you across the river for only $1.00 per vehicle. Overall, I appreciated the huge savings achieved by staying at Federal City as well as the incredibly friendly staff. Mehr

"Hidden Away"
This hotel was quite nice. It is across the bridge from New Orleans but just a 10 minute drive and you are in the midst of it all. Very spacious. Rooms are the size of efficiency apartments. Will definitely stay again. Highly Recommend this place.

"Federal City Motel is a good spot in New Orleans"
Federal City is a newly developing enterprise center on an Old Navy Base just across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter. The base is being redeveloped with this Hotel being the former Navy Lodge. Nearby the Base gym will soon be a huge YMCA. A NO Police substation is next door. There is a huge Marine Office complex. The price was very cheap […] (25% of downtown) and room, bed, parking nice. Very nice deal. I plan to always stay there. Mehr
"FedInn"
We chose this hotel because of the neighborhood surrounding the inn. A quiet and peaceful oasis from the hustle and bustle of greater New Orleans. Hotel was clean and desk staff helpful. Really enjoyed using the ferry to and from the French Quarter. Great hotel and there are great eateries surrounding, just need to look.
"Not a typical hotel"
The hotel does not have a typical hotel feel since it is on a naval base. The room was very large and in excelent condition. It had everything in the room you would need. The staff were very friendly. It can be hard to find though since it is in a neighborhood and in a gated navy base.
"Federal Inn and Suites- Great Value"
We chose this hotel because it is close to my Aunt and Uncle's house (2 miles). The beds were extremely comfortable. The kitchenette was nice to have especially for eating breakfast in the room before we met up with my family for Mardi Gras parades. The only complaint I have about the kitchen is it only had 2 bowls and 4 spoons. Not enough for 3 of […] us to eat cereal without washing a bowl. Housekeeping did a nice job of bringing clean towels and straightening beds everyday, however there were a few stains on the bathroom walls that looked pretty nasty. All in all our stay was pleasant, and we would recommend this hotel to others. Also, there is no elevator, so if you are on the 2nd floor you have to walk up stairs. Mehr
"Federal city, close to the French Quarter"
I spent one night in Federal City: great place, clean, comfortable and close to the French Quarter. Taxi is like 10/15$ to the Canal Street and Bourbon Street. I definitely recommend it!
"EXTREMELY SAFE!!!! and nice hotel too."
We drove down to New Orleans for a one night stay before our Carnival cruise. I myself hate large towns, we live in the country in Wisconsin. This place is probably the most safe place in the whole city!! Its on a old Navy base and its fully fenced in. Also the local police station is 2 buildings over. I seen about 5 squad cars in about 10 minutes. […] We took all of our kids (4 total, 2 years to 12 years) out for a walk on the adjoing track field at 9 pm at night. This place is a fortress. Its a little hard to find, but the hotel staff was great with helping with a few extra directions. GPS did the rest of the work. The hotel was clean and the staff was great. Its very basic with no pool or any other frills, but I will stay there again when we book our next cruise. One nice thing is it comes with a full kitchenette with all needed cookware. The local eats are about 1 mile away and the surrounding neighborhood is nice as well. Mehr

"So glad we stayed here!"
My family and I were trying to find the balance between low cost, convenience, safety and enjoyment when planning our first trip to New Orleans. This hotel definitely came through on making that a reality. While not located in the Quarter or any of the tourist locations, it is a short (free!) ferry ride away from all the “action” of New Orleans. The […] accommodations were great as well. Not fancy – but clean, with a kitchenette area that would have worked out fabulously for long stay visitors. The staff was extremely helpful and the fact that it was on a closed down naval base and next to an active marine facility meant that there was a strong presence of “safe”. I am so happy that we chose to stay here instead of the Quarter. Mehr
"Good deal if youd don't mind walking."
This hotel was great for us as it wasn't too expensive. It was great to catch the ferry over to downtown New Orleans for the day, saving a lot of money on cabs. However, the walk between the hotel and the ferry was about a mile and a half, which isn't bad but I wouldn't recommend doing it at night.
"BCS Weekend"
Although my team lost in the BCS game in New Orleans, the hotel was a winner. Decent rate for a special event weekend. Only 1 1/2 miles to the Algiers Ferry which puts you at the foot Canal so we walked around downtown instead of driving. Hidden gem.Kitchenette a nice touch. Large room.

very nice- clean & well kept.
"very close cab ride to French Qtr"
had wanted to stay in the qtr for BCS championship games, but no rooms. This was about as close as you can get, just over the Miss. river bridges, about $20 each way, no hassle. On a former navy base.

"Federal City, a pleasant surprise"
Stayed hear during the BCS championship game. Swapped to this hotel from a hotel farther out. It was really quite nice. Well maintained, clean, large rooms and very friendly staff. I just couldn't get them to say Roll Tide! The beds were very comfortable. Large restroom/vanity area and also a kitchenette. While it is across the river from New Orleans, […] it is about a 3 minute drive to the ferry, and just a 30 minute walk, which we did on one trip to downtown. It's also just a few minutes drive into downtown. There is not much around, so it is very quite and the neighborhood is not bad at all. We felt very safe. I would highly recommend this hotel. Mehr

"Better than I expected"
I was mildly worried about this hotel because of the lack of reviews online. However, I was pleasantly surprised... The room was nice, the staff was friendly and the beds were very comfortable. We were advised there is a free ferry that runs across the river and puts you very close to the French Quarter and Bourbon street, plus it runs until 12:15 […] AM. It was an $8 cab ride from the hotel. Aside from the entrance to Federal City looking like the demilitarized zone, it seemed fairly safe. As far as I can tell, it only has a 2 star rating because there is no pool or restaurant, oh well! Mehr

"Federal City Hotel - Safe, Courteous & Economical"
We were here at this quiet haven for 3 days and felt very safe in this old naval base area. Our 27' trailer fit in the parking lot, but it was a little tight to get turned around. Another entrance or exit for those hauling trailers would be great. The front desk people were very pleasant and helpful. The small kitchen area had everything you would need […] to make a meal and save money. Clean rooms. Bed was a bit too firm, and pillows lumpy. Whatever, I would bring my own pillows next time.Overall, a terrific deal so close to the French Quarter!! Mehr
"Federal City Inn & Suites-New Orleans"
Convenient close proximity to the base when visiting family. Friendly, helpful staff, very well maintained, cleanliness a big plus, and reasonable rates are all an inviting inticement to stay in clean comfort during our visit. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
"Federal City"
It was a little confusing at first to actually find this hotel, but it was dark when got in to town. Federal City is basically an old "Navy Neighborhood", not and actual city. The hotel is located in its own little area so its nice that its away from everything, but still close enough. The French Quarter is just ten minutes away and Wal-Mart and other […] stores are also quite close. The neighborhood immediately outside of Federal City is not the greatest but the hotel itself is very nice and it felt safe. The hotel staff was great and was very attentive. The room had a full kitchen that included pots & pans, so we were able to get groceries and make meals instead of going out. It was a nice stay and wll worth the rate. Mehr
"Won't be disappointed - nice place."
As others have indicated, this is a 4-star experience - the 2-star official rating is based on lack of extra amenities (no pool or restaurant), but the stay was great. Nestled back in what was once a military base, it is quiet and secure, and while we were there (5 nights), only a few other guests, which made it even quieter. Save your money for other […] things - no need to spend twice as much elsewhere. I'd say it was less than 10 minutes to the French Quarter, over the expressway bridge. Mehr
