North Tahoe Lodge - Truckee

I've read through the existing reviews and all the important things have been mentioned. Good things: friendly, family-run, small b&b with many luxurious features, high on a mountain with a fantastic view. I really enjoyed the whirlpool tub in the guest room and my friend enjoyed the TV room with Direct TV. The breakfast had many healthful selections. […] Some less good things: the many stairs that must be navigated, the limited parking, the hard-to-find location, inadequate soundproofing of the TV room, and no locks on the guest room doors. Also low-flow toilets that had to be flushed several times for success. The in-room soda bar was nice and reasonably priced, but the refrigerator didn't work and we had to get ice from the kitchen two floors up. We had the misfortune to stay during a construction period on a neighboring house that started very noisily at 7am (this is obviously just a temporary situation.) We felt the benefits outweighed the negatives, overall, but you need to make your own assessment. Mehr

I don't know if words can do justice to my experience at North Tahoe Lodge, but I'll try. The place is exquisite,and the hosts were warm and welcoming. The self-prepare breakfast was a first for me, and I loved it. The food was fresh, and most (if not all) was organic. To celebrate my niece's graduation, I brought her to Tahoe to stay at Sierra Club's […] Claire Tappaan Lodge on Donner Pass. I should have realized that, while I like the rustic charm of Claire Tappaan, it's not her style. After two hours crying and thinking I had ruined her vacation, the pragmatist in me took control of the situation. I searched the web for a place nearby with the highest guest rating. North Tahoe Lodge had only two ratings, but both were 5 out of 5. Fortunately, they had a room available for the duration of our vacation. The lodge salvaged our vacation. We had already been para-sailing and river rafting, and we rented jet-skis on Lake Tahoe. I asked her if she wanted to return to Lake Tahoe to para-sail and rent jet-skis again, but she wanted to hang around the lodge. Why not! They have a hot tub, sauna, steam room, an amazing view, a living room with an honor bar and TV, and the list goes on. That was just on our floor. We would have extended our vacation by a couple days, but the lodge was booked up for the remainder of the week. Traveling alone, I'd probably stay at Sierra Club's Claire Tappaan Lodge again, but when entertaining guests I will stay ONLY at North Tahoe Lodge. We enjoyed our recent stay at North Tahoe Lodge in Truckee. The newly opened Lodge is located near Tahoe Donner Ski area with a great view overlooking Tahoe Valley. Take your GPS to find the lodge unless you are familiar with Truckee. Proprietors Igor and Natasha are eager to make your stay comfortable. The recently constructed lodge is built into the […] hill-so the suites are below the entrance area. There are many steps to get to the lower floors-and no elevator. As long as that is not an issue for you, there is much to enjoy-a hot tub on the deck with a great view, spa facilities with a steam room and a sauna, and jacuzzi bathtub in the large and comfortable suites. Don't miss the rock fountain turned on every evening. The full breakfast choices are delicious. Ask Natasha to prepare waffles for you or cook your own omelet-all the ingredients are available. Mehr

We took a shot with a place with no reviews. When we arrived, we weren't sure we were in the right place. It's at the top of a hill and you drive through a neighborhood to get there. A little bit out of town, but not far. It's a really nice setting though. Amazing views east into the valley. Great facility with all kinds of add-ons. Natasha and Igor […] were very accommodating. They had a crib for our 23 month old. The breakfast spread was great. The minibar was, "take what you want, leave $1 in there for each item please." It's that type of place. More of a B&B feel than a hotel chain. I have already recommended to friends. Lots of morning sun in any of the rooms facing the deck (which is awesome). Not normally a morning person, I was up at 5:00 taking photos of the sunrise. But I didn't mind a bit. Mehr
