Staff was very nice and very helpful. Hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff made sure we had everthing we needed set up a nice tour of city and canal for us and gave us excellent advice on places to shop, eat and explore. I was very happy we chose to stay here.

I stayed 2 nights. It was fine except for the last night when the drunks could not find their room and knocked on every door at 2:30 AM. The commotion lasted for at least 1/2 hour.

I was very disappointed because of the false advertising of this place. It said the beds had memory foam mattresses so I booked because I really needed a good night's sleep before the next very long day of traveling to go home. The mattresses were flimsy spring mattresses and I had a terrible night's sleep. There was no top sheet; only a bottom sheet […] and a very thin bedspread. The air conditioner was very loud and not very effective. The ad in hotels.com stated that there was a manager's reception daily. I was expecting a drink and maybe a snack. The owners informed me that all it meant is that they had a manned desk. The ad stated that the room I was renting (Pear) had windows that opened and had a view of the garden. They did not open and the only view from windows was a barbed wire at the top of the fence and the very tops of 2 tall buildings. The ad claimed there were black out drapes on the windows. Not only were there not black-out drapes, there were no curtains or drapes at all. When I complained to the owners/managers, I was told that they had no control over what Expedia/Hotels.com put in the ads; they insisted that they had provided accurate information. Mehr

I was looking for a hotel that was closer to the airport. I had an overnight stay and thought this was fairly close, but given it's residential location you have to take some back roads --- at least my taxi driver did. It was clean and comfortable. FYI the taxi ride is $25 from the airport.

The real benefit of this hotel (more like a bed and breakfast) is the owner Alejandro. He treats you like you are a guest in his home, not a customer. He worries about you when you are late getting in. He even ran to the store and got us a bottle of wine and would not take anything for his efforts. We just reimbursed him the cost of the wine. While the small hotel could use some refurbishing, it's excellent location near shopping, restaurants etc make it a good choice. The owner, who speaks excellent English was always available and incredibly helpful in all aspects of the stay.

This B&B has basic needs for traveling - a clean room, bathroom (mine was shared but after one or two nights, no shared mates, so it was private), good breakfast and TV. I took a taxi all the time, and sometimes felt I was overcharged but the rate I got was as follows: $25 for airport (one way - about 30 mins), $10 for Miraflores Locks (about 15-20 mins), $5 for Panama la Vieja (about 10 mins) and $?? for Casco Viejo (about 10-15 mins). Don't like sharing bathroom. The owner was very friendly, and went out of his way to be accomodating. He said he would have a cab ready to take us to the airport at 5:30am at a good price and the cab was there at 5:20. There is no sign on the building saying it is a hotel, so you MUST know the street number!

Had a great experience at Mediterranean Dreams. It is strange because you are in a very residential neighborhood and it does not look like any hote I have ever been in. I highly recommend the Hindu shop one street over on the main drag just in front of Mediterranean Dreams. It is called Solde La India. They had t-shirts and bags that were reasonably priced as well as beautiful skirts, scarves and table linens... to the right of the Don Lee restaurant. Alejandro will educate you quickly on what is reasonable to pay for each taxi ride. I appreciated that immensely. When we needed ice, we got ice. He was literally our "best friend while in panama," He went out of his way with helping us plan our trip with what activities to do it and advice with places to avoid. After a long day of travel our taxi pulled up in front of Mediterranean Dreams and my husband looked at me and ask what in the world had I gotten ourselves into. It was nothing like we expected. But, Alex met us at the taxi and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. He was truly the ultimate host and made certain we knew it was our home for […] as long as we stayed (which was the night we arrived in Panama City and the night before our departure back to the states). It's not a fancy high rise hotel but a comfortable bed to lay your head on and a nice hot shower. Alex's wife prepares a nice breakfast and the best cup of hot coffee. We didn't get a chance to see much of the surrounding area and had no need to get out and explore since all our needs were meet by our host. The owners were very helpful about how to get around in Panama, what to look out for and how to eat cheap at restaurants where the food was good but still cheap. Met all of our needs. We were extremely pleased with our stay at Mediterranean Dreams in Panama City. The greatest asset of Mediterranean Dreams is definitely Alejandro, the owner. He went above and beyond to make our stay in Panama City a wonderful experience, from arranging short side trips (that we had been under the impression that were not possibilities) with very little […] notice to giving us the "low-down" on tourist sites, and realistic costs of taxis. Alejandro made us feel right at home in his hotel, always offering us his opinions on sights not to be missed, and helping us to find alternate accommodations when he was unable to provide us with a room due to changes in our plans. As far as the actual rooms, we stayed in two different rooms during our stay at Mediterranean Dreams, they were well kept, comfortable rooms. Located in a quiet neighbourhood, it was about a 5 - 10 minutes by cab from anywhere in Panama City, and it was close to buses, shopping, and plenty of restaurants. If we return to Panama City, we will not hesitate to book with Alejandro at Mediterranean Dreams. We had a nice 3-night stay at this friendly B&B in the El Dorado section of Panama City. Hosts Alejandro and his wife and cousin were quite gracious hosts and supplied us with lots of helpful information and inexpensive taxi reservations. Having just recently purchased property in Panama, we've been doing alot of overnight stays in Panama City. Alejandro has done an amazing renovation job to create a small, comfortable oasis in the city. Within easy walking distance for all types of restuarants. This is the first negative review I have ever written. We travel a lot and are used to many different levels of lodging. There are however, some things that are important. We did not have hot water in the bathroom sink, this was known and accepted by the proprietors. I believe this was cost cutting. The shower had an instant water heater that was only […] capable of dribbling water. The room was dirty and in disrepair. The A/C had all of the grills broken out. In the morning I watched a large centipede make the rounds of the room. The very close neighbors have a barky dog. All in all, an unpleasant stay. We left early in the morning. This place is in a residential/commercial neighborhood. Very difficult to find. Several hours were wasted locating this dissapointing property. It was then too late to go somewhere else. The sign out front is for a different company. There are places to walk to but they are not very good. The management was plesant and courteous, but cannot make up for the serious problems at this site. This place is like the relative's house that you dread to visit because of the condition of the house. Not worth paying to stay at this level of lodging. Mehr

Alejandro and his wife are fantastic and the hotel was a cute little place. We only stayed for one night but the service was fantastic and the couple helped with our plans for the rest of our trip. Not the best location, but the service was worth it for sure!
