Stayed at paradisus with my husband for our vacation. Pros. Room was clean and food was good. Cons. Resort is very big but not many staffs. Swimming pool was so full of people that we didnt get a chance to spend time in there. Beach was packed too. Never going back.

We booked the royal service suite. The butler service was terrible. Never followed through with requests (and we didnt make many). Mini-bar never stocked, and room not made up unless we called...sometimes at 6pm! Getting dinner reservations at the time and place you desired were impossible, even when asking the butler in advance. Food was ok. Fuego […] had the best food and service. Very noisy if not in the royal service area. Music playing all the time. We were lucky to have a suite overlooking the gardens away from La Perla pool where it was noisy all the time, There are really no ocean view suites unless you are on the 3rd floor overlooking royal service pool. The beach is very short, narrow and rocky. Entrance to resort very unimpressive, although, the decor was very nice once inside. The bar, pool and beach staff try very hard to attend to your needs. Entertainment was average. The room was very comfortable, although 2 nights we had no water! Bed was extremely comfortable. Mehr

This hotel and staff exceeded our expectations by far! The staff was excellent and so genuinely friendly. Because of my need for quiet and recuperation, they up-graded our room to a far-end top floor ocean view 1 bedroom suite! It was fantastic for us and just what we needed. The hotel rooms, ground and restaurants were kept immaculate... all the time. […] The operation of the hotel seemed to run seamlessly. Food was great which is a rarity for me to think so. This is a more modern hotel and very tastefully decorated and furnished. Beds great, couch not. If you are looking for quaint Caribbean cabana type cottages, this is not your place. But if you are looking to relax in luxury and elegance while eating the best food of your life, this place is it! Hands down, the best massage I have ever had! Ask for Marabel! She was strong, compassionate and professional. DOWNSIDE TIP: When getting off the plane in Cancun, do not, I repeat, DO NOT stop at the kiosks on the way out of the airport building. These guys lining the exit are scammers and are there by permission of the government to get you to visit (buy) timeshares at the various resorts. It will eat up a day of your valuable vacation time to partake in their "90 min" schpeel! It is not worth the "free" give-aways- Believe me. The whole thing is quite a well organized smoke and screen and we were submitted to heavy pressure for several hours. I warned my partner, but once you have made this mistake, you will never do it again. Mehr

Overall a great hotel! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was really good for an all-inclusive and the compound is gorgeous! The downside is that the hotel is on the far end of 5th Ave a bit too far to walk if you want to go to the strip. The rental car guy at the hotel was very friendly but very slow, which caused me to miss breakfast prior […] to my departure from the hotel. Also plan your excursions ahead of time or as soon as you arrive on site or you will be competing with other guests for the excursion personnel and they are limited. Figure out dinner plans early on as well in order to make reservations as the restaurants can get full quick. Aside from that, it was a wonderful stay and would stay there again. Mehr

ON the second day of our trip we left in the afternoon to go to 5th Ave, upon returning noticed the # key on our safe was stuck in and we could not use our code to open the safe. Thinking we maybe made an error we went out for supper and the next morning had security come to our room to open the safe only to find we had been cleaned out of our cash. […] Nothing else was taken just our cash. We went to the hotel security immediately to start an investigation. Their internal investigation suggested no one had been in the safe since we last locked it and then had it openned by their staff. We also had them check our door and only one staff was indicated as being in our room during the same time and only briefly. So needless to say we got no satisfaction from the hotel itself, even after talking wth the general manager. We went to the police, with one of the hotel staff acting as interpretor because we cannot speak Spanish. Our experience at the Police station was ok, and we felt the police treated us fairly, but explained that since we were only in Mexico for 1 week that it would be unlikely for them to even begin an investigation. He make an offical statement and gave us a copy for $100 Peso. I have no idea how someone got into our safe but it happened and I just wanted to warn others about this. I have seen other reviews with similar experiences at other hotels and some info in the Internet about how thieves hack into the rooms themselves undetected. Mehr

The moment you step into this hotel you are just blown away. Following check-in, Fernando sat us down in the welcome lounge and gave us in-depth information on the resort, Playa Del Carmen and booked us all our dinners. We did not do the Royal service and never did we feel of lower status. The food was good but not great. Passions was good but not sure […] if it was really worth the extra $. The buffets were small selections but the pasta, fish grilling and smoothie stations were very impressive. There was one day on Friday they had LOBSTER tails for the lunch and dinner buffet! Everyone was taking photos of this. Rooms are fantastic with dual rain showers and very Miami style. The big downside of this hotel is the beach. It's rather small and quite rocky. We hung out mostly by the pool so it didn't bother us too much. The service at this hotel is just phenomenal. We got engaged here and the hotel actually left champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries in the room for us while we were out. Be sure not to miss Mexican night in the La Perla bar side as there is a phenomenal opera singer. Overall, the resort is so impressive we'd highly recommend this place 5 star all the way. Mehr

Great place. New, spacious, totally worth the money for all inclusive. Great honeymoon spot for sure! Go see the bartender Victor at the South Ave bar. The best bartender I've ever met. Makes each and ever drink with lots of love!

It's huge, but if you hang in your "area" of the resort, it's not a problem. Wander around and you realise how massive it is. Family area and "no kids" areas, which is great. I had a junior suite (great deal) with pool access from the terrace. Beautiful room, well kept, modern and everything worked. Loved it. Restaurants were a mix - the "Grille" […] so-so, but others (like "Passion") were amazing. Get the tasting menu - costs $45 over the "all inclusive" but so, so worth it. Staff were friendly and accommodating - very happy with the staffing levels and efficiency and politeness. Plenty of pools, beach area is small but fine. A 30 min walk on the beach to the main part of town (or you can cab it for 100 or so pesos). All in all a terrific get away at a first rate resort. Mehr

The hotel resort was immaculate, great service, atmosphere and entertainment with excellent restaurants and bars. All the staff are friendly and courteous. No issues other than its on the “wrong” side of town and outside is pretty rough, but you can walk along the beach in 25 mins to Playa.

We requested a king bed ended up with two double beds for a couples resort why dont you have all king beds very uncomfortable sleeping with a large man in a double bed. Room was nice very clean.Need to have more activities and not so many private events that have great music but other paying guests cant attend. Had an awesome time I could write the 1500 character capacity but it wouldn't be enough to explain how awesome everything was. The only thing I would like to see changed is the access to swim up suites. You can only unlock/lock the room from inside you cannot leave your room or enter freely with your room key. This was our families 2nd trip to Playa Del Carmen, but our 1st stay at the Paradisus La Perla. The hotel and staff were all "top shelf." If you don't like being pampered, eating wonderful food, relaxing by the pool, drinking nice drinks, talking to great people from all over the world, and being treated with the utmost respect and dignity, YOU WILL […] BE MISERABLE IF YOU GO HERE! LOL Seriously, the hotel is beautiful and the staff go above and beyond to make your stay a remarkable one. I am a Security Professional by trade, so I also like to make sure that our family trips are safe. This is one of those trips which you can really enjoy and feel safe the entire time. The meals and service were always what you hope for, but rarely receive. This trip was everything, PLUS. The three (3) people from the Hotel staff who I would like to give a shout out and thank you to are; Doris in Housekeeping, Luis by the pool, and Gilberto the Porter. The rooms were always clean and organized, the drinks were always great and plentiful and the service in and out of the hotel was wonderful. I only wish I would have remembered the names of more of the staff so they could be recognized. Thanks for everything and we will be back! If you do go, open your pocket book a little and tip the staff. They bust their butt, but to see the smiles on their faces knowing that you appreciate what they do, is priceless. Mehr

I have vacationed at many all-inclusive facilities and the Paradisus Playa del Carmen is clearly superior to any other resort. I find that normally the food at an all-inclusive is normally sub-par to par but it was like eating at a gourmet restaurant every night. We did pay the extra money at Passion for the tasting menu and although the food was excellent, […] I found the food at LaPalapa was equal or better and there was no additional charge for that restaurant. As far as the entertainment, maybe there could have been a few more activities set up on the beach and certain parts of the beach were pretty rocky, but that would probably be the only thing I would suggest they improve upon. The service and all employees were simply amazing. They were all so courteous and extremely attentive to every request. I stayed at the adult only part of the hotel but I will definitely be returning with my family to stay at the family hotel. This was truly a wonderful vacation. Mehr

Excellent hotel! Great food & beach. Royal service is definitely worth the extra money! The only downfall is that it's too far to walk to 5th Ave, but only a few minute cab ride. Spa services are overpriced. Can get the same thing or better for a third of tbe price on 5th ave. I didn't like the layout of the Resort. It has a very closed in feeling and very warm thru the corridors. You don't see the beach unless you walk directly out to it and it is very small. The staff are friendly and food was average. I have stayed at other Resorts for less money that I liked much better.

My wife and I love to travel, and this Hotel is the best we have ever been too. I am a builder and have never seen as high a quality construction every where you turn. The many restaurants are not only beautiful but the food is 5 star. The pools, lounges, Royal Service, Swim up Suit, Drinks at the Bar's, Service from the Staff, Beach, even the restrooms […] are all superb. Close to Playa Del Carmen ( take a taxi # which is a great place to see and shop. The many Chef's will specially cook for you if you have food allergies like I do #shellfish# the wait staff is at your beckon call and will get anything you need. Can't tell you how many times we heard it is my job to take care of you from the staff. Even the mini bar in our room comes with special request liquor in full size bottles #Amazing). The shower has 2 rain heads that are fantastic. The Hotel was sold out while we were there yet it is so big you did not feel crowded. If you have ever been on a cruise this is at least 10 times better and liquor is free and the food is way better like really going to a 5 star restaurant for every meal including breakfast and lunch. We can not suggest this Hotel enough, You will not be disappointed. Mehr

Really a first class resort. Services, courtesy, professionalism may have been the best we've seen in 15 years of travel to all-inclusives like Club Med, Sandals, etc. The food was extraordinary. But, have to consider this: - We stayed in what was clearly a low week (last week in Sept) and there seemed to be few guests. This did nothing but enhance […] the services available and made us feel like we were really special. I would bet that a full complement of guests would impact the restaurant reservations, bar service, and other things, generally. Still, for us it was great. - We like activities to be included and they were limited for what we like. Snorkeling off the beach was very limited, beach volleyball was supposed to happen but the beach is about 50 yards from the resort and isoloated by foilage, so it was inconvenient to see what was going on. They had a great fitness center, but did not encourage participation. Poolside activities were okay, but things like Zumba were at an advanced level - They asked us to listen to a the Club Melia Vacation Club pitch. No pressure, but to be polite we went. Claimed it was not like a timeshare, but it is and worse. They did the pitch then threw out the cost -- $95,000 with $35,000 now. Of course we did not do this, but then they called the manager and tried to sell a smaller package. Avoid this pitch. It is scary and will lock you into something iffy forever. Like timeshares, available now but the more sales the fewer options for you. Mehr

The hotel is excellent, the swim up rooms are the way to go you dive right in and swim your way around to the swim up bar in the main pool. The places you have to eat are MOLE MEXICAN REST. Had to call and get my room cleaned twice. Also I went down with a group of investors to find a location for a confence. The other group was staying at another resort and i was staying here i brought the other group to see the resort and show them how nice it was and let them know that this was the place i would recomend for the conference. The hotel […] front desk help were so rude, mean and disrespectfull when i asked for them to show my guest's the resort for a future stay and conference they forced them to leave. My investors are worth 200 millon dollars i guess the resort did not need the business nor a return stay from me. I guess some things in mexico never change......... no respect. Mehr
