This is a comfortable Gambian hotel within easy reach of the main Senegambia strip for clubs and restaurants but far enough away to get a good nights... sleep NOTE aircon, fridge and room safe are ALL charged as extras The hotel food is good with specials on offer most nights and although more expensive than the strip the service and waiters were very good. The pool and bar are in a courtyard setting so private and peaceful, the beach 5 mins walk away is not the best on this coastline, but the taxis outside the hotel are very reasonable (with a bit of hard haggling at the start). Be aware when you first arrive you will be hit on by all sorts wanting to be your friend or wanting to bring you to the best places or "hi I'm abdul your hotel security" , we found the best way was to totally ignore them, it is only in the resort areas that they want to shake you hand we did not encounter this hassle or behavior anywhere else !!!! The Gambians are a lovely people and we would highly recommend touring outside of the resort area, at no time or in any place did we feel unsafe or unwelcome and after a few days of dealing with the bumsters they left us alone. We went to The Gambia mainly to bird watch and there is no doubt it is a spectacular bird watching location with local guides at nearly all the birding areas but in general you can safely wander where you like hearing only the birds and the odd giggling child or greeting being called from the small fields as you pass.
