Very spacious rooms with a balcony. Refrigerator & microwave. Tube TV. Safe parking. Clean & no bugs. Comfortable LARGE King Bed. Metal key locks only. Pretty old, but not "run-down". Modest but tolerable. Traveling solo, so did not have to impress spouse. Although dated and a little time-worn, it was clean and quiet. Old-style large room. Old TV, but who cares - not here to watch TV. Plumbing had been updated sometime in the past decade and AC worked rather quietly. No amenities at all. Pool is covered and closed. A maintenance […] issue was solved quickly, but why was there a maintenance issue at all? Location is on the main drag dead-center in Boone, so meal options were plentiful. The room was basic but clean and tidy, close to plenty of food outlets, access from a main road but set back so that it was quiet, parking at the door. Excellent price for what we received and really nice staff.

while the motel was older, it was clean and comfortable. Definitely for the cost of motels/hotels in the Boone area, this was a good deal. We will plan to stay there again when we're in Boone.

The bed had hair on the sheets from the last occupants. They offered me another room but after looking it wasn't any cleaner than the one that we had. Very unhappy with the house keeping, sheets had not been changed on the beds from the previous guests.

great price and great location were given a room with a balcony with a good view of the mountains. lady at front desk was very nice and helpful, clean rooms, comfortable bed, close to places to eat, shop, sight see. was in town for graduation at Appalachian State. Had a good stay, will definitely stay again.

This motel was a nice place to stay. We were not there a lot but when we were it was very quiet. The rooms were clean. I was disappointed with one member of the housekeeping staff, I didn't think she was very professional but we reported it to the manager and I hope that situation was taken care of.

This is an older hotel and as such won't meet standards for some travelers...But if you are not a stickler for all the high end amenities this is a great hotel for the money. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable and we were welcomed warmly by the staff.

For some reason there was a miscommunication and we were initially sent to a room that had already been booked. I was extrememly diappointed in the condition of this room! It needed a major upgrade! It was located in the front on 1st floor. We were sent to a room on the back which is where I have been before. It appears these rooms have had some updating […] but not nearly enough. This was my husband's first time staying and he was not impressed at all. I'm pretty sure we will not be staying again. Personally the price was great and that is why I stayed there. Truthfully, looking back, there needs to be some improvement in order for me to stay again. It was very clean but the lack of maintenance (outlet sticking out of the wall, outlets labeled with a marker, cracked bathroom floor) really deterred from that. Mehr

One day before arrival day, called to clarify if there is breakfast, the answer is "if you got the room, you got the breakfast." which is a faule, no breakfast service. The point is faule information is wrong, we did not care if there is breakfast or not.

I liked the retro feel of the place. It reminded me of the '70's. You can't beat it for the money. Centrally located, so getting to anywhere in Boone was no problem. I will stay there again when I visit my daughter at App. State.

The hotel is very convienient to the Boone area but in much need to being updated. There is no modern card key entry - still using metal key, and the heating /air unit ran constantly. The bathrooms need some updating and you need to be sure and bring personal items - they won't be provided for you. Not sure why there are harsh reviews on this hotel; you can't expect a four-star hotel when you're paying a rock bottom price. My kids and I stayed here, and it was fine. Certainly would do it again.

The room, location, cleanliness and service were all fine and I had no problems. However for the price of my room I would expect the "complimentary" shampoo to be IN the room, not that I would be required to drive around to the front of the motel in the middle of a snowfall to GET it. ok, so I know not to expect much from the price in this area. The hotel is old and block style. The place was clean, but the bedding was way past due for update. Holes in the sheets, flimsy pillows, and holes in the comforter. The carpet was worn completely down in spots, and the bathroom floor was cracked, the tub had worn in dirt - put a towel down […] to take a shower. The shower did work well, and the water was hot. The room is big, and it has a big cement balcony. Some of the scarce outlets were not unusable, due to poor installation, and the phone jack was haging out of the wall. It had a nice size refrigerator, which worked well. Cable channels on a tiny TV. The staff was freindly and they did set up my wake-ups correctly. I picked this place because of the location, so that was the best benefit. Mehr

This motel provided a place to clean up and sleep within walking distance of campus. We had a room on the second floor, a furnished balcony with a nice view, comfortable beds, and a clean bathroom. Our nonsmoking room had no odor. The TV worked fine. Some amenities were absent. For instance there was no telephone, hotel directory/information flyer, […] shampoo, or in-room coffee. There was coffee in the lobby, plenty of mirrors and lighting, an alarm clock, a microfridge, an ironing board and iron, a hair dryer, soap, hand and bath towels (small but fine for us), toilet paper and tissues. All appliances worked fine (didn't check microwave). Two things needed correction while we were there: tissues ran out (they left a new box the next morning) and I asked them to clean some surface mold off shower grout (workorder was placed immediately and completed before we returned later). The shower curtain was fairly new and very clean. The water was plenty hot with very good pressure. The beds were fine, but the pillows were a little firm and high for my head. I would personally bring my own pillow next time, but I'm somewhat picky on that anyway. The walls must have been soundproof; the motel had no vacancy but we heard no one in the adjacent rooms. Check-in and check-out was expedient. They had our reservation ready and correct at check-in, and all we had to do at check-out was leave the key. The two staff members we encountered were professional, polite, and helpful. Mehr

We booked this hotel at the last minute on a holiday weekend, it was the only one available. The location was great,right in the middle of town and with in walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. If I passed by this motel by chance I wouldn't have stopped but after staying here I was much surprised. The room was very clean but it is dated. The room was very large, bigger than most rooms anywhere. It had a large balcony with plenty of seating, and that is a big thing for me in the summer. The walls are made of cement so you hear nothing!!!! I […] love that since in most hotels you hear everything. I had trouble opening the door to the balcony and when I mentioned that at the desk the maintenance man even beat me to the room. Nice service. The two main negatives were there was no internet service in the rooms, you had to go to the lobby and since I had a dog that made it very hard since she could go in the lobby. By the way, soon they will not accept pets :( The other negative was no coffee maker in the room. I am a huge coffee drinker so that made a difference for me. They do provide that in the lobby as well. Overall, well worth the money on those days when everyone else is charging you an arm and a leg to stay (Friday and Sat). While the experience wasn't bad, I didn't walk away thinking that I'll be back either. There was a musty smell in the room. The bathtub had stains along the caulking. The wireless internet wasn't working. On the positive side, the receptionist was polite and even suggested a half-off coupon in one the local flyers for Horn in the West.
